Photographer’s Note

This is a café known as the " Stone " café, probably built at the end of the 19th century by the greeks who populated this place called at Cunda island off Ayvalik, a small town othe Aegean. Perhaps all of it's glass windows used to be tinted, and when they broke they were replaced with ordinary glass. Of course the plastic chairs are not very elegant, and perhaps one day some new owner will have more taste, and replace the windows end the chairs. But in the meanwhile it still attracts many photographers, and this does not please the owner of the cafe. Especially when we display our tripods among the chairs, he believes that the customers will leave his shop, and makes problems.

Nowadays Cunda island ( Also known as Ali Bey island ) is united with the main land. I believe that the café, although it probably lost it's original appeal, still retains some nostalgy.
