Photographer’s Note
Everytime I go to Istanbul, I make sure to walk across the Galata bridge at least once, and it usually takes me at least an hour because there are so many interesting pictures to take. This was my favorite view of the Yeni Camii. For anyone who has been to Istanbul, this is a very familiar scene. For anyone who hasn't, there are always dozens of people fishing from either side of the bridge - those are fishing poles you see perched on top of the bridge.
Just a week after I was there (i.e. just a few days ago), there was an explosion in one of the restaurants under the bridge, injuring two people. Judging from the pictures I saw in the news, it happened at the restaurant just beyond the umbrella in this picture.

Hi Becky.
I love this picture of Galata bridge. I crossed it many times in the ten days that I passed in Istanbul. My hotel was between ther two bazaars and all days I used to cross this bridge for go to Istikal.
Besides, sometimes I was in the cafes that are in this bridge, but in the other side, there, the sunsets are incredible nice, while you are drinking apple tea. The sun uses to became wonderful in the afternoons.
And the fishermans in this place.. lot of fishermans. Did you see them at night. I saw them at 2.00.am or 3.am, lot of fishermans.
This place give me very nice regards and I hope to go again.
It´s a pity the explosions.
Good photo. Grettings. Luis.

Hi, becky
Good choice of framing to add interest and geometric dynamic to a wonderful sight, that may not always come so in a straightforward shot. Well seen and well done!
