Photographer's Note

We are at the stairs going down to the ground floor of the exhibit hall. On the left of the stairs is an area dedicated to boats that the founder of the Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk used. Along the right wall are the busts of various admirals of the navy. We see, ahead of us, the latest addition to the museum’s collection: The galley with 24 pairs of oars that served Sultan Mehmet IV, the Hunter (August 8th, 1648 – November 8th, 1687). The museum’s website is proud to add that it is the only original galley in the world.

Deniz Müzesi Girişi

Sergi salonunun zemin katına inen merdivenlerdeyiz. Merdivenlerin solunda, Cumhuriyetin kurucusu Mustafa Kemal Atatürk'ün kullandığı sandallara adanmış bir alan bulunmaktadır. Sağ duvar boyunca çeşitli donanma amirallerinin büstleri var. Önümüzde, müzenin koleksiyonuna en son eklemeyi görüyoruz: Avcı Sultan. Mehmet IV'e (8 Ağustos 1648 - 8 Kasım 1687) hizmet eden 24 çift kürekli kadırga. Müzenin web sitesi, bunun dünyadaki tek orijinal kadırga olduğunu eklemekten gurur duyuyor.
