Smoking is a popular pastime in Turkey, although according to some reports has decreased considerably over recent years.
There are more than 70 species of tobacco. Products manufactured from dried tobacco leaves include cigars, cigarettes, snuff, pipe tobacco, chewing tobacco and flavored shisha tobacco.
Here a man was selling tobacco in the Mardin Market.

Nice travel portrait. We have the man and his work environment.
Good exposure to still share details in the shadow in the shop and a good composition playing with the 3 tobacco mountains in foreground and the seller just behind.

hi wanda. looking at this photo, i remember keribar's neat style of environmental portraits: there is a perfect sense of composition, colors, their contrasts and distribution in the cadrage as well as the crispness of textures. the merchant's direct and serious gaze is touching the souls, giving a sense of respect and patriarchal dignity. perfect portrait from mardin.

Une image claire et nette
An unusual street life situation that makes me smile, looking at this seller as if he was comfortably sited, ready to smoke the 3 big bunches of tobacco in front of him !
But I'm likely to be the only one to consider it this way !
Best regards, have a nice day

A shot which incorporates the interest of an individual portrait and a daily life scene. The figure is sharp with an engaging gaze, whilst the surrounding details reveal the context of his shop and his product.
Have a lovely day,

Very cute the "tobacconist" in his den! I never imagined that it could expose the tobacco in this way! Very original and very distinctive! Brava to take this fun and interesting picture!
Best Regards, Nino.

Fine, relaxed portrait of this man in his everyday working place. The man seems at ease with you taking this picture. Very natural.
The left side of the picture is quite white, I think I'd have cropped just a bit off (into the blue bag) there. Maybe.

Une intéressante et originale scène de rue. Il a de quoi satisfaire une belle quantité d'intoxiqués du tabac!

Another of your very effective environmental portraits. He doesn't look particularly pleased to have your camera pointed at him. Did you have a smoke afterwards??
