Maybe the "oldest" window in this recent series ! It's age is been estimated to approximately 300 years. And it belongs to an old wooden house in Safranbolu.
The special cage form helps that the women of the house can lean out to see WHO is knocking the door but still can not be observed by the men on the street !

I've never seen a window like this before, and to think its 300 years old? Wow, that's an old wooden structure. For me, the slightly broken slats of the cage around the window look a little threatening, like something from a scary movie. I think its because it reminds me a large scary mouth with fangs, and the dark brown staining on the wood reinforces that feeling.
Thanks as always

Hello, a very interesting architectural image. Good color and lines. Something antique and a story to go with it.

I like it.

"Maybe the oldest window" and maybe the window i like most, maybe because of the age and the wonderful worn wooden structure. It is quite fantastic that a 300 year old window can survive for so long time. I guess it is a dry climate in this area?
Crisp and clear shot, interesting note. Tfs!
Have a nice evening.

now THATS a door!
looks like something from some haunted house or torture chamber!
very impressive and unique, and the history is interesting too...if only these doors could talk!
