On Saturday, our youngest wanted to go to the local petting zoo. Oblivious to what was going on back home, I went with him and took lots of photos of cute animals with my brand new DSLR with the intent of preparing a collage for TE.
However, I could not bring myself to uploading photos of cute animals today. So, I am uploading a photo of the statue of Atatürk in Ulus, Ankara from 30 years ago. This is from a scan of a slide. I layered a duplicate on top of the original. I converted the top layer to B&W, applied sepia filter. I proceeded to cut out from the top layer the average man and woman on the street, including the statue. This left the average citizen and the statue on top in color, with the rest of the photo in B&W. This work is dedicated to the Turkish people who have been dubbed as "hobos" by their prime minister.

Like your picture and also can i join you in dedicating
to the people of Turkey who are standing up to
heavy force of the police. It goes against every thing
Ataturk stood for.
Peace at home peace in the world.
Regards to you and yours.

Interesting scan of your slide. It reminds me of the time when I was travelling often in Turkey. From the mid 1970 to the mid 1980 I frequently was in Turkey. I loved to be there. You did a great job converting your slide to digital. Well done

Interesting use of desaturation and good sharpness in the mid and background. The muted colours give this a dated look. I like the repetition of the verticals at right with the minaret, flagpoles and wall. Good graphism of the horse and rider against the lighter sky. Tfs!

Another brillant archive Murat,
Remarkable daily life scene both b&w and colors
I can observe the evolution of the way of dressing here, if we compare with the present
Have a nice day

a very well composed daily life scene in front of a characteristic setting of Ankara. The monochrome-colour treatment is wonderful, there's great elegance in the layout, vividness in the daily life scene and a great balance between the two equally intricate and interesting themes. I like very much the sense of depth and the softness of all the tonalities displayed. I think that any viewer would automatically juxtapose the peaceful atmosphere of this photo to the dark and violent scenes we see these days in Turkish cities and which fill us with worry. Congratulations on your work and thank you!
All the best for your country and your friends there,

just like on your photo from 1984,also today the history is taking place on our eyes and young people in Turkey seem to look for a change.
I really like the whole treatment process you did here.To keep the lower part of the image in colour and the upper part with the Monument in B&W adds the image additional taste and historic dimension.
Wish You a pleasant day

You're capturing well this place by a good composition, so it's interesting and impressive to see the statue of the father (Atatürk) of the modern Turkey founding of the country. It's impressive that he is riding on the horse, too. And, you tried a difficult post process on it.

Hello Murat ,
You got one of the oldies from the eighties. Turkey seems to like a dream destination for me with such lively environment.Hope to visit Turkey and Greece someday as they have been the most fascinating to me on TE.TFS.
Regards & Good wishes,

Atatürk looking from above on street life, Murat, nowadays some are yielding to his dominating rule back in time.
Maybe it is time for a change. Nice applied the B&W and mix of sepia and colors, well scanned old stuff.

excellent framing of this image, catching the minaret, the monument and the people in a perfect way. I liked the colored people in contrast with the environment. nice image, I hope the troubles will be solved sooner as possible.

I've seen more fresh photos of this monument on the TE, but this old document photo is more important for history. Why do you hide your archive from us? )))Best wishes from Russia!
