The port of call after Istanbul was Kusadasi, Turkey. Then, it is another 20km to Ephesus, one of the most important cities of the Roman Empire—is among the world’s best ancient sites.
At its peak, Ephesus was one of the grandest cities of the ancient world, ranking among the four leading centers of the Roman Empire (along with Alexandria, Antioch, and Rome itself). With a staggering quarter of a million residents, Ephesus was the second-biggest city on the planet (after Rome).

Ciao e buona giornata

This is a classical photo of a classical architecture, and the building is the famuos Library of Celsus. Making close photos of the place is usually difficult because of myriads of tourists. But your long distance was a good choice to make even the tourists as tiny, colorful additions to your photo. That October 21st weather is amazing, but this is of course Aegean coast.
Thank you for sharing,

I recognised your picture straight away. It was many years back but the holiday in Turkey was one of our most favourite, and memorable. We visited Ephesus several times as we were amazed at the history of the ruins and also attended a concert there with Diana Ross topping the bill.T.F.S.

When I go to the Mediterranean region I am impressing by the Greek-Roman heritage. Another interesting presentation of the ancient ruins. Unfortunately, I never been in Izmir. TFS!

Efeso si mostra ancora in tutta la sua bellezza, nonostante i secoli passati e la storia che ha attraversato.
Hai fatto un'ottima inquadratura e le persone determinano le proporzioni dell'architettura.

never managed to get to see this place and it is one that I really should make the effort to visit. Your beautiful capture of its magnificence and presence emphasises why that visit is so worthwhile. Execution and presentation here are just perfect. Well done!
Have a great weekend - Brian.

Good afternoon Tiffany,
Great view over the facade of a monument left from the Roman empire. It sure looks as was an impressive edifice back in time: the mighty pillars are scaled by the tourists in front. Fine taken photo, well managed the strong daylight.
Have a nice weekend,

Beautiful capture of the classical roman theater in contrast with the sky
good to leave some empty space at the left to show more of the ruins and vegetation
Well done, congrats

I'm hoping to visit these inspirational ruins very shortly. Good sharpness and a nice blue sky. Well framed and composed. The people add scale and context. I think this is the old library? Nice warm cold color contrasts between the warm stone and blue sky. Tfs!

Another sight I can't get enough of. Excellent POV & framing. There was a time when I would visit Ephesus every year just to see what new areas had been uncovered. Thanks for digging up memories for me!

Fine overview of the huge Roman temple. If only we could have visited it before it was ruined?
The stone ruins to the left look even older than the huge columns?
With the people crowd, I would like to visit at sunrise, but understandably on a cruise we are limited in time.

Well if I am the master of modern architecture then you are the mistress of old ruins with this one! Ha!
Its amazing I was in this place almost 25 years ago and I still have (somewhere) a snapshot taken from almost exactly the same place as you are standing here. I wasn't into photography back then but it seems we have a similar eye! Great shot nice composition.

beautiful looking photo from Turkey.
I have to admit, when I think of the country Turkey, Roman Empire architecture isn't what comes to mind right away.
but thats what makes this one even better.
lovely shot and pov as the architecture stands tall and powerful, dominating the skyline.
excellent colors and lighting too.
enjoy your day

This ancient library is about the most famous building in that well-known archaeological site. There are lots of pictures of it. Yet this is one of the most beautiful I've ever seen.
I like the position of the library on the picture with also a view of some other ruins, the cypresses and the palm trees at the foot of the rocky hill and the many visitors on the foreground. The picture is very clear, excellent sharp and shows a beautiful light and colours. Also the blue sky with a few smaller white clouds is a great backdrop.
Best regards, Paul
