Photographer's Note

The iron fence which had turned a dark grey receives a fresh coat of black paint.

This picture, taken last week, is from Çankırı Caddesi, a very busy street in the older part of Ankara, the Turkish capital. While most of the street is lined with hotels, restaurants and seedy nightclubs and with a noise level reminding me more of New York, behind this fence is a quiet area of ruins of Roman baths.

I borrowed the title Back to Black from a song and a CD by the late Amy Winehouse. It could also symbolize my feelings now that summer is over, vacations are over and it's back to work (the little I do as basically retired).
