Photographer's Note

A daily life in a traditanol coffe shop.
Middle eastern cities in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries to the present day some traditional cafes in Turkish cities are caled "kirathane"(qira'at-khane) reading rooms, indicating the function of reading newspapers and pamphlets, perhaps aloud (they are now mostly games rooms). These constituted an important element of the emerging "public sphere" in those cities.
