Photographer's Note

Children are everywhere in Mardin; they either try to sell you knick knacks or volunteer to take you around while they recite memorised bits of information they learnt at school. It is part of a program to involve children in the tourism as guides and works perfectly well. They have more energy than grown ups and earn decent pocket money. This is the main entrance gate to Kasımiye Medrese and this little one is carrying water to her sisters who are selling colourful bead necklaces outside under the scorching sun. Below is Mesopotamia plains and a little village inthe middle if you can see it.
