Hagia Sophia - turkish: Ayasofya
| A basilica, mosque and a museum |

It was the largest cathedral ever built in the world for nearly a thousand years, until the completion of the Seville Cathedral in 1520. The current building was originally constructed as a church between A.D. 532 and 537 on the orders of the Byzantine Emperor Justinian, and was in fact the third Church of the Holy Wisdom to occupy the site (the previous two had both been destroyed by riots).

Hi Paulina,
usually I don't like this kind of photo-composition... But this is very impressive and armonious. Maybe for the B&W choice, for the subject: men walking, for the vertical cut of the three shots...
I found your post elegant and evocative of the marvellous Istanbul.

I like the idea of showing 3 photos in one ... but I think the first is the better one and the 2 others are less interesting (for me of course ! :D ). Anyway, nice to look at and the b&w is superb.

Wonderfull b&W triptic of this wonderfull building.
You have mentioned it perfectly; basilica, mosque and museum. The latter one is again an evidence for the greatness of Kemal Ataturk, founder of the modern Turkey ! As a museum it's now part of worlds cultural haritage.
Yıour collage shows really very fascinating details.

Hi Paulina,

This looks similar to the other one, but the B&W gives it a different mood. It's also nice to see the other views. I was wondering why the people were shooting into the light. Now I can see that they are photographing the windows.
(I gave the other photo zero points by mistake - sorry.)

Hi Paulina,
Even though I am living in Istanbul and I see lots of fascinating photos from Hagia Sophia and I know there is a great light in there; I've not gone there with my camera...
I like both of photos, they are very well seen and light management at its best. B&W choice is perfect for all, it looks very attractive in the glorious interior atmosphere of Hagia Sophia. My favorite,among three, is the one in left; silhouttes and shadows look amazing in b&w... If I had taken such beautiful photos I would post them separete, they are all superb :)

Hi Paulina,
I've just been back from Istanbul and I gotta say your picture really appealed to me. Tripod not being allowed in Hagia Sophia, it's hard to come up with something and your idea of some kind of triptych is great. It transcribes the stunning atmosphere in this superb building. A very well carried-out idea. Congrats!
