Since last 29th May I was on a four days trip in differet cities of South-East Turkey.
Hystorycally also known as Mesopotamia whre the rivers Tigris and Eupohrates meets each other.
Unfortunately this part of my country still suffers under major economical and ethnic problems.
This capture was been made in one of the famous covered basaars of Gaziantep. A citizen sittin in the cafe of the basaar deep in thoughts.
Bu kare de bu dizinin sekizinci karesi. Gaziantep'in ünlü kapalı çarşılarından birinde çekildi. Çok sayıdaki çay evlerinden birinde bir Antepli oturmuş bir yandan tesbihini çekerken, bir yandan etrafını inceliyor.

Hiya Mesut, my today neighbour
nice portrait of this man praying maybe, and not noticing you taking him in picture. The sharpness is strange except on his hat and goggles.

What is reason that these area is a lot of subordinated against the area from Istanbul?
Also these old man is not adapted to the modern world.
But a very well portrait with the heavy glasses.
Excellent composition nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS
Have a nice day,

J'aime beaucoup ce portrait de l'homme en prières. Le moment est parfaitement immortalisé. On constate aussi sa grande sérénité.Le cadrage est excellent ainsi que la gestion de la lumière.

I like how you have been able to capture this man, so deep in thought, without him being aware of you. His face suggests a problem and, maybe, the rosary is helping him cope with it.
The narrow dof gives an interesting but unobtrusive b/g.
My warm regards,

Mesut, nice capture of this man who apparently is unaware that you are photographing him. He seems very pensive and perhaps worried. Good idea to open the aperture so as to defocus the background. Thanks.

A very attractive portrait of this older gentleman who wasn't aware that you took a picture of him.
The tespih is omnipresent in Turkey. I wanted to say that I've one at home too but to be honest it's a kompoloi.
Do you know if there's any difference between the Turkish and the Greek tespih (origin, meaning, ...) ?
Best regards, Paul

Hello Mesut - I like this candid portrait. The man seems to be unaware of your presence and you have captured this intimate moment in his day very well. I wonder what he is thinking of and whether his prayer beads help him to focus his thoughts.
Nicely seen DL image.
