Sailing in Black Photo

Photographer’s Note

Lake Aynzeliha, a peaceful environment, with people sailing in black... Actually the splashes of sprouting water were quite loud out there, but imagine it as a quiet environment...

I set the exposure due to the sparkles of light on the water surface, therefore the remaining is quite dark. Some may find it too dark, but i love it when it is too dark (you already know)...

When the Prophet Abraham opposed the cruel ruler Nimrod, and defended the idea of a single God in an attempt to woo the people from their idols, Nimrod cast him into the flames from the hill on which the citadel now stands. But God commanded the fire to be cool and healthful (The Holy Koran, Enbiya, Verse 69), upon which the fire turned to water and the firewood to fish, and Abraham fell unscathed into a rose garden. According to legend, Nimrod’s daughter Zeliha believed in Abraham way and therefore threw herself into the flames; the place she fell became Lake Aynzeliha. Visitors hold the fish in both lakes to be sacred, and will neither inflict harm on nor eat them.

ters ışık nefis olmuş... ışıltılar içinde yüzüyorlar adeta... sandalda muhafazakar bir türk aile yerine bir elf ailesi görmeyi bekleyeceğimiz cinsten bir kare olmuş... senin black serine de uyar bu haliyle...

(tünelin ucunda ışık var zannedip karanlık geleceğe aheste kürek çeken halkımızın da yansıması olmuş bir bakıma...)

Super olmus. Koyu siyahlarin arasinda parlayan isik ve fiskiye nefis. Kayikta farkli kisiler olsaymis ama ne isi var orada Lady of Shalott-vari kizlarin, di mi?

Bana birsey hatirlatiyor ama ne hatirlattigini cikaramiyorum.
Sandaldaki insanlari sevmedim sanirim. Orada daha egzotik/fantastik birilerini gormek isterdim sanirim. Elf de olur Korkut'un dedigi uzere, hobbit de... Ama benim favorim kender olurdu. Bir dahaki sefere modellerimizi secerken dikkat edelim, hedef kitlemize kulak verelim :)
Fiskiyene diyecek birsey bulamadim onlara laf ediyorum iste...

tarzınıza yakışan tam bir deniz klasiği.dark siyah renk hakimiyeti içinde özellikle fiskiye etrafında oluşan ışık son derece etkileyici bir görüntü oluşturmuş.ayrıca sandal ve üstündeki insanlarla birlikte detaylarda harika elinize sağlık.

So, they don’t eat the holy carp. What a pity.
I have to admit that I like this Nimrod guy. Defending polytheism against the zealots of monotheism was no bad thing. Ok, his means might have been a bit too brutal, but – if we take a look at history as a whole – they were not more inhuman than the practices of the monotheists.
It’s a nice shot with a fascinating light effect. For my taste it’s indeed too dark though.

Yes, I know, you don't really speak french, but I do ;).
Une excellente réalisation à contre-jour.
J'ai fait un jour un essai dans le genre avec la fontaine à la Défense mais le résultat était loin d'être aussi magique comme ici.
Un chef-d'oeuvre d'ambiance et de beauté.

Tam bu saatlerde benimde aynı manzarayı çektiğim kareler var ama fazla ışıkla renkler iyi görünmedi,çok yerinde S/B tercihinle suyun hareketi ,göldeki yakamozlu ışıltılar, sandalın silüeti ile nefis bir kompozisyon ortaya çıkmış,yaratıcılığını çok güzel gösteren bir çalışma,kutluyorum,eline sağlık,selamlar

Anlaşılan ben bu gün herkesten farklı düşünüyor durumdayım... Kimbilir belki karanlık fotoğraf konusundaki tercih anlayışım buna etken... Pozlamayı ışıltılıar üstünden yapma fikrini çok tutsam da karanlık bütün beni nedense çok sarmadı ama ışıltıları ve su fiskiyesini de çok beğendim tabii bu arada...

Merhaba sevgili Deniz,
Muhteşem olmuş. Thumbnail'de ilk bakışta "nur saçan" bir minare gibi geldi ama açınca iş değişti.
Benim gibi bir siyah beyaz hastası için bulunmaz bir ters ışık çalışması.

Poetic, mysterious and fairy tale like. And very much in my mood :))) Great light at your command greatly used. In spite of BW (so kind of graphical) convention feel the breeze from the water and drops of water in the air. Kind of magic I think.

I find this one very achieved and, more important than that, I like it very much. I have no special affection for dark photos, but they can be uniquely very moody and inspiring like this one is. As a matter of fact, sometimes I wonder if most of us avoid doing dark photos just because it is much more difficult to make them result well. Like you suggest in the note, it perspires a very peaceful and pleasant atmosphere.

I love this kind of light in photos. I think it makes everything to look magic and dreamy, like from a fantasy world and you Deniz, you exploited in a perfect way to make a wonderful photo.

Hello deniz,
a wonderfull impact of light on the water fontain!. Perhaps a little bit dark but this aspect also contribute to the beauty of the composition.
