Was there myself last year: quite a place, isn't it? I read somewhere that it is said to have inspired Walt Disney's castle design in "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs". Your view shows how it seems to grow out of the living rock. For the record, a couple of my postings of St. Hilarion are here and here. I expect you went to Buffavento too. I'll have to see what I've got to post from there...

This is a beautiful photo. Good light management, great colors, especially the blue sky.
However, I hate to see TE become prey to politics. St. Hilarion Castle is not in Mersin, Turkey. It is near Kyrenia, Cyprus. I was in Turkey in July 20, 1974. I woke up to mother crying, saying "We're at war!" It did not cross the ordinary citizen's mind that Turkish troops were there to incorporate Cyprus to Turkey, so let us not do it now and kill the hopes of those of us who hope for a just solution to the Cyprus problem.
