Photographer’s Note

Karatas is a town and district of Adana Province, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, 47 km from the city of Adana, between the rivers of Seyhan and Ceyhan.
The inlet of Akyatan is a breeding ground for many birds, blue crabs and the sea turtle species Chelonia mydas and Caretta caretta. Blue crabs which are in Mediterranean, particularly
from North-East Mediterranean are the most important
crab types which are commercially important.
Especially the crabs hunting in fishery
workings which are located in Akyatan (Karatas).
Today Karatas is known for its fishing industry and as a place where Adana's inhabitants can easily access to relax on the beach.
