Istanbul is surrounded by water on 3 sides (Golden Horn and the Bosphorous / Sea of Marmara), so no surprise that ferries are a popular way to get around. In the bg top left is the Ataturk suspension bridge. Taken on a cold rainy day and with one hand on an umbrella and the other on the camera. I am glad I did most of my sightseeing the previous day.

Did quite well I must say with one hand...:-)
The ferries are the usual ones...wonder whether all the cars travel twice daily in this route. Thanks for pointing out about the bridge...its almost camouflaged in the fog

The number of cars and trucks has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and colors of the ferries, of the cars and of the trucks. The colors are well rendered even with the rain. Have a nice day.

A very fine one-handed capture. I like the tight framing to concentrate the attention. The wet weather brings out the colours and detail to very good effect. All in all, an interesting well presented composition.

an industrial "mother and baby" shot this and I really like it! Gloriously detailed and so much to look at. The yellow car stands out and draws you into the image quite cleverly. An original and fascinating image. Well done!
Enjoy your weekend - Brian.

Despite the rain this photo is technically perfect, the daily life scene is well captured, a photo of a documentary character

Viao e buona serata

nice the view as the good reportage shot from the daily life of Istanbul.I like the way that the ferries transport the cars and the trucks to the other side of the continent, instand to use the aerial bridge.

Hello dear Chris,
Another perfect capture from my homecity.
A rainy and not very photogenic day but the result is still topclass.
I remember the days before the spanning bridges over Bosphorus was been constructed, those ferries was the only possibility to cross Bosphorus !
TFS and have a nice weekend

You have managed sharp image with one hand holding the umbrella and heavy DSLR on the the other hand. The rain brings out colors that I like with nice tone and details. Good to point out about the bridge and thanks for sharing.
Have a great WE.

I'd love to be in one of those cars... it's a sort of local adventure, specially because of those weather conditions!
I really liked your idea and photo job!
Sharpness, management of difficult light, colors, horizontal format, chosen pov and composition are all excellent!
TFS - congrats,

The dismal weather has if anything enhanced this image. The subject matter is something which could have been seen as not so photogenic - but this is not the case. You have turned the ordinary into the extraordinary. Well done, Marlene
