Photographer's Note

The alleys of the once archontic houses in Fener neighbourhoods near the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople are maybe the most beautifull sight the city has to offer for the ones who wisht to seek for the everyday life of the place and not just the monuments and the museums. Especially recomended before sunset.

Hello Gkonis.
A superb street scene, so well timed to capture the man with the can (vacuum cleaner?) - not quite a silhouette - and he's very well placed in the composition. The buildings seem to tower over him. The light is great, and the sharpness and detail superb. What I like most - the last thing I noticed in so many details - is the person in the window at the top of the picture. The light gleaming on the cobble stones is also exquisite. Very good photo.

I think that if it's not your city it's very difficult to find such corners. I suppose this place is not in common tourist's tours.

This is really a different picture with a genuine taste , one of the best among the Istanbul TE collection with a blazing pavement that nearly swallows the shade of that person and a decadent but not less beautiful Turkish architecture ...Loving the mood , TFS

Hello Gkonis,
I wish I had known about this district when I was in Istanbul. The mix of age and style of the buildings is interesting and I like the density and the nicely detailed brick sidewalks and cobbled street. The light reflecting on the wet street and the silhouetted figure give a perfect focus to a well composed portrait of the district.

C'est une grande photo. La vue en plongée nous montre la petite place de l'homme dans cette scène de rue. J'aime bien l'observateur à la fenêtre dans l'édifice du bout de la rue. Les pavés brillants, les vêtements qui sont étendus, c'est un beau coup d'oeil dans un espace et un moment de vie quotidienne.
