Rainy and cold days. Not much light.
This morning I've cleaned my darkroom, set new developers and start making b&w prints from my archive.
All are been scanned from 18 x 24 cm b&w prints.
This first one was been made in 1971 in Zekeriyaköy a small village on the European side of İstanbul close to Black Sea shores.
Today all this area is full with modern residences and no sign more of this rural life !
Hava kapalı be yağmurlu.

Selam Mesut. A way of life that has disappeared. I hope that the beautiful tree has survived the changes. A charming image and a reminder how fast we have turned our backs on nature. Regards. Klaudio.

Great photo from the past of this rural farm scene, doesn't the shepherd look proud of his flock. Great scan, well managed and presented. I think it's so important not to loose these old prints, as it is a super record of the past.

a fascinating look back in time. So much lovable character and elements here. I love it! Sad to think that this has become the victim of so called progress. A priceless magical shot, thanks for sharing it with us.

Picture perfect composition in black and white. It takes us back to a time when life was perhaps simpler and more peaceful. The presence of the shepherd has made the photograph come alive. thanks for sharing.

This black and white oldy is a wonderful surprise. A day in the life for a lonely shepherd which you have captured very well. This kind of rural scene hasn't fortunately totally vanished from our countrysides. The tree and the sheepfold make a nice background and your black and white edit gives the picture a timeless quality. Well done.

Ciao e buona serata

Oldy but goody. Really good quality shot and good quality scan. Black and white is perfect to present it, gives it more of a nostalgic quality.

Old maybe, but gold as well! The roll-film camera has much larger negs than the 35mm, and the difference may be seen here, even though we're looking at a scan and a quite small file-size of image. It's absolutely beautiful, and the nostalgia associated with knowing the place has changed so much adds immeasurably to its impact and worth, both as art and historical record. Really fine work. I take heart from your delving into your archive, and think I'll have to do the same. Sadly I don't have a darkroom any more. Maybe I'll come and borrow yours!

a new theme of black and white oldies coming up! looking forward to seeing them.
very interesting scene with the person standing on the left, i think that adds alot.
and of course the large tree works well in the scene as well.
lots to like here

I take a guess: This picture has been printed on high contrast paper or with No. 5 filter on a multi-contrast sheet, because all the details on laced tree appear with much finery over the virgin skies!
Quite a moody scenery indeed!

A very beautiful oldie, well composed.
I particularly like that big tree, with its branches all spread wide open and where I think to see new leaves sprouting.
The man poses proudly behind the herd of sheep.
I think it would be very difficult now to find back the exact same location to take another picture to see how this rural area has turned into a part of the big city.
Best regards, Paul

Hello dear Mesut,
a fascinating document of a time that isn't so old but the changes in the aspect of this place and in the daily life there make it look so. I like very much this bucolic scene that now seems poetic. Your composition is original, the tree fills the empty space in the frame, its shape and patterns are very pleasing. You achieved excellent definition and subtle grey tones and textures, your image looks like a pencil drawing. The eager pose of the shepherd adds interest. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

Mach's gut! Bis demnächst!

what a superb photo! The whole scene is very well captured and lovely presented in B&W format. The old man standing proudly with the flock of his sheep add very much life to the composition. The house with the tree sitting among the fields are almost iconic of the rural landscape. The whole composition is nicely organized.
Well given contrast and sharpness.
Thanks for sharing
