Istanbul Trip, Day 7, Scene 6
Since there are so many photos of the Maiden's Tower on TE, I was going to pass this one by. But each moment of the Bosphorus is an entirely different scene, so I decided to upload it. However, I am not going to repeat the same story for Maiden's Tower for the umpteenth time. Instead, I will mention its relation to James Bond films.
The Maidens Tower is briefly seen in From Russia With Love, when James Bond meets Tatiana Romanova on the ferry it can be seen in the background. It had a more prominent role in The World Is Not Enough; it is where M was held after being captured and where Bond is later taken and tortured by the beautiful Elektra King who places Bond in a device designed to break his neck by forcing a metal rod against his spine.

hello Murat, This is well known view but every time it looks different in different light conditions. the sky is very interesting and one can try to recognize all the minarets on the other shore. Excellent composition. Interesting note about using the place in Bond's films. I am afraid I haven't see them.

I didn't realise that there were such strong 'Bond' connections! Very interesting!
A nicely composed shot with a sky and sunbeams that help to add mood. Despite these clouds, the shot is refreshingly light.
Have a lovely w/e,

Well placed the Maiden's Tower off-center on the thumbernail, Murat, allow view in far side over the known turrets and mosques, and the vessel cruising on the Bosphoros.
Cloudy sky made light so special, sun-ray shining lines "falling" to sea. How impressive.
My best regards,

il doggetto è noto ma il punto di ripresa è originale e colpisce anche la bella composizione.
Colori impeccabili, contrasto perfetto ad evidenziare una ripresa molto ben fatta.
Ciao e buon fine settimana

A great capture of Maidens Tower, good composition with the Tower and the tanker really standing out against the grey/blue sea and land.

You could have uploaded a blank slate, and I still would have enjoyed this one for the title alone...nice to have a n image though. :) As fascinating as the tower is, this one is all about the sky for me. The cloud formations and subtle rays of light breaking through set a terrific tone for this shot, both ominous and light...with a dramatic twist. A nice view none the less of the tower and cityscape in the distance, with a couple of large vessels as well for good measure. Have a great weekend. Take it easy.

It's an interesting on how you relate your double-0-seven story to this famous frequently shot subject - probably shooters fav spot! I think even without that blue freighter its makes a fine shot. Indeed hard to miss that torture chamber i think the darker the tones of sky the more atmosphere it will be! Great shot and tx for sharing, Congrats

nice the view as the presentation of the Elektra's torture chamber with the passing by boat to completes perfect the whole scenery.
The moody sky enhance even more the beauty of the image.

very interesting this general view of the area. I saw this tower many times here on TE, but not in this perspective. the view of the town ahead is impressive and I liked the job against a difficult light. I am happy the real use of the building wasn't being used for torture.

you're right, seascapes change by the minute and its always interesting to see a familiar subject in special lighting conditions that offer a different mood. I like very much the content and layout of your picture, all the focal points are clear and attractive, their interaction is superb. You captured the special light very effectively, the colours are fine and their varying intensity plays a role in the impression of depth too. I also like the suggestive drama of the atmosphere. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,

Fine "across the water" view of the Maiden's Tower island with the distant minarets and giant freighter background.
Being a big James Bond fan, my first and still favorite Bond flick is From Russia With Love, for both exotic places like the Bosphorus, Venice, etc, and the gorgeous Tatiana.
Thanks for sharing,
