Photographer’s Note

Open Air Tobacco Shop,

I made this capture in Topkapi, in one of the entrances of the Byzantine city walls of İstanbul.
Those two men are selling cigarette tobaccos and cigarette papers. I don't know if it's legal or illegal; but for me it was the first time ever, that I've noticed such a scenery.
The seller at right is much more interested in other things than tobacco. He is studying very carefully the hints for the next horst races in the afternoon !

Açık hava tütüncü dükkanı.

Bu kareyi Topkapıda, surların bir giriş noktasında çektim. Bu iki adam, açık tezgahlarında, sigara tütünü ve sigara kağıdı pazarlıyorlar. Yaptıkları iş yasal mı değil mi bilmiyorum ama, özellikle sağ taraftakinin işini çok ciddiye almadığı kesin.
O yere yaydığı gazeteden, öğlenden sonra yapılacak at yarışlarının tahminlerini inceliyor.

Dear Mesut bey,
I see we are neighbours today! I like this daily life scene from lovely Istanbul. The characters are nicely spaced, giving a sense of balance to your photo. Interesting detail too. I wonder how this one would work in b & w, with their dark clothing and the great textured wall in the background? Good shot!

hoş bir günlük yaşam karesi olmuş elinize sağlık hayat herkes için zor sanırım hele bu 2 arkadaş için , iş güç yok herkes boş onlarda eve ekmek götürmek için uğraş veriyorlar ama sanırım onlarında işi yok :( elinize sağlık

Surların taş dokusu çok güzel fon oluşturmuş,böyle açık tütün satanlarıda ilk
gördüm,çok ta tekin görünmedi nedense,At yarışı bakan bey ekmek parası derdinde iken saçları ağartmış,varsın havadan da kazansın becerebiliyorsa,yeterki elindekinden olmasın. Bu güzel kompozisyon,İstanbulda her malın piyasası ve bulunacağı bir mekanının olduğunu çok güzel göstermiş.Elinize sağlık tebrikler,selamlar

une bonne capture de ces vendeurs installés avec le minimum, un adossé contre le mur attendant le client et l'autre en effet plus occupé à regarder et pour reprendre ta note, son pronostic pour les courses de chevaux
un aspect d'une vie quotidienne bien réussi avec un bon cadrage et luminosite

Mesut, this is stand out good. It certainly shows a side of your interesting country that I would not likely see over here. Is the seller on the right sitting on something? Overall very nice capture.

That's the Istanbul I look forward to returning to, dear Mesut Bey ! The old city wall, the street sellers, a bit of nostalgia... I like the natural way these 2 men are represented, both waiting for the customers - hope that they'll get some in the end !
Nice daily life shot, it's a pleasure to watch these scenes !
