Istanbul Trip, Day 3, Scene 7
On the way to Nargile Central, we passed by Tophane Kiosk. Here is what Vikipedi says about this building: Tophane Kiosk was commissioned by Sultan Abdülmecid. Designed by the British architect William James Smith, construction of the building was completed in 1852. The kiosk was used during the sultans visit to military facilities in Tophane or to receive foreign dignitaries arriving by sea. Russian Tsar's brother Grand Duke Constantine was received by Sultan Abdülmecid here, the 1897 international conference that ended the Ottoman-Greek war and the International Straits Commission after the Treaty of Lausanne met in Tophane Kiosk.
The kiosk is parallel to the sea, and is a two-storey rectangular building. Decorations on its facades, protrusion in baroque style seated on the second floor cantilevers, stenciled ceiling decorations and marble fireplaces are among the most remarkable characteristics of this pavilion.
I have uploaded a public domain photo of the same kiosk from 1855 to the workshop. While this photo is taken from the southwest corner, the WS photo was taken from the northwest corner.

The trees are helping to frame the building. The point of view is showing a double perspective of the architecture of the Tophane Kiosk. I like the the effect of the different colors of the building. Have a nice day.

British style archi. design, but the oriental colors prevails. A fine corner photo, well chosen, as all details shown beautifully.
The WS gave a fairly good idea how the place once appeared on the boulevard.
Impressive edifice, well done photo.

You're capturing well this architecture by a good angle and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the classical building with the elegant design and skillful gold decoration. It seems to the high State Guesthouse of dignity of baroque style as you note.

such an elegant and well preserved building, of great historic value too. I like very much your composition and the way you tried to eliminate modern distractions from the surroundings. Lovely perspective and a pleasing full frame. The colours are very fine and the moody lighting has rendered the atmosphere melancholic and romantic. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great weekend,

I have a good evening shot of Tophane Mosque I might upload to TE one of these days. Good framing on this eclectic looking building with a nice angled pov showing the corner and both sides. Good pp work on the sky. I had to look twice to spot the halo. Excellent shadow detail and sharpness. Have a nice weekend!
