Photographer's Note

Today we had a perfect "photographers" weather; bright sunshine, deep blue and cloudy sky.
This capture shows one of the famous Byzantine Churches of İstanbul St Eirene. Not far away from St Sophia. The importance of this beautiful church of Byzans is, unlike many other churches of İstanbul, it was never been turned into a mosque.

Bugün İstanbulda muhteşem bir "fotoğrafçı" havası vardı. Pırıl pırıl güneş, yer yer bulutlu masmavi bir gökyüzü.
Yürüdüm İstanbul sokaklarında. Bu kare Sultanahmet'te Topkapı Sarayı'nın hemen ilk avlusunda yer alan Aya İrini kilisesi.
Bizans kiliseleri içinde Aya İrini'nin önemi, diğer kiliseler gibi fetihten sonra cami'ye çevrilmemiş olması.

Good afternoon Mesut!
Excellent play of colours, light and shadows. Nice view at the one of the largest and oldest Byzantine churches. Great contrast between dark blue sky and and brighter colours of the walls . Thanks for posting

Hi Mesut,
A beautiful and very pleasant sunshine today! The grass looks very green and the sky looks very blue. This interesting church is nicely placed between these strong colours. The tree to the right adds an interesting component to the scene. Is it a plane tree? Also very interesting to see that you actually uploaded this photo one hour before you took it!

Je ne suis pas un fan inconditionnel de la zone d'ombre en premier plan; par contre, la lumière sur cette église byzantine est superbe et les arbres forment un joli cadre naturel.

Hello Mesut - We stayed a stone's throw from this wonderful church in Istanbul and I'm kicking myself that we didn't go and see it. Hello Mesut,
This is certainly a wonderful shot of the Aya İrini.
The composition and framing are excellent.
The church is taken from a good angle while a splendid light is shining on it and the dark blue sky makes a perfect backdrop.
I also notice a great contrast between the sunlit branches on the right and the dark tree trunks on the left. They all stand out great against the sky and give the picture an excellent DOF.

Für mich ist dies eines Deiner schönsten Architekturfotos. Hier stimmt einfach alles - das Licht, die Farben, der Blickwinkel ... und der Blick aus dem Schatten heraus hat einen ganz besonderen Reiz. Du hattest aber auch wirklich günstige Voraussetzungen für ein tolles Foto.
Allein die "Dachlandschaft" dieses Gebäudes ist schon eindrucksvollund aufgrund der vielen Fenster muss die Kirche einen wunderbar hellen Innenraum haben.

This is indeed a really fine building, and the weather was was fotuitous this day. The combination of the green grass, brown stone and blue sky works beautifully well. That we have the trees both in shadow and not, and the dark foreground makes it even nicer still.Thanks for sharing
