The title for this photo is inspired by Supertramp's album "Breakfast in America." This, my first morning in Istanbul, my sister took me to Sarıyer for breakfast. This is the view of the fishermen's docks from the balcony of the restaurant. In the distance on the far right is the Bosphorus' opening to the Black Sea.
Unfortunately, I brought the cold weather to Istanbul. You can see that the top of the overhead power lines tower on the hill is hidden in clouds. It has been raining since soon after I arrived and they predict rain for the next week. Oh well, it is still nice to catch up with family.

The charm of Istanbul isn't lost even on a rainy day. This is indeed a very grey photo, but there are so many bright spots that enliven the view, and a walk along the Bosphorus would be awarding in almost any kind of weather. By the way, the gallery page, with the thumbnails, can't handle "un-American" letters such as ı :-).

This is beautiful.Though the background appears to be cluttered, the the distinct red and green colour of this vessel is making the pic a unique one. The green patch on the side is adding life to the pic. Good contrast and sharpness. would have been great if the pole in the front could be avoided.

so you're in Istanbul now, I hope you'll enjoy your time with relatives and friends and that you'll take some wonderful, romantic and dramatic photos in this weather. It's cloudy and rainy here too and we have almost the same prediction for next week. Let's make the most of it, you'll get some good opportunities for reflections too:) This picture is a great example of the photos I'm talking about. The seaside scenery is very charming and interesting and the clarity you achieved under these conditions is superb. I like the moody atmosphere and colours and the walking people inviting us into the scenery. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great time in your hometown,

I hope you had a nice flight to Istanbul. The distance between the boat and the hill in the background is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the boat. The cloudy sky does not hurt the output of the colours. Have a nice day.

You're capturing well this scape by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the the Bosphorus and residential area standing on hill's slope in wet day seen from restaurant's balcony. And, the shadow projected to the promenade draws out a good effect as well as some ships anchored to the pier.

Rain and clouds over the bay, did not obsecured the beauty of this place.
Fine clarity and depth all along the bank, boats in multi-colors added vividness over the mostly grey tones.
As ta ourists, we can't choose the best weather, we have to take what offered to us.
Enjoy best time with your relatives.

Not the best weather for a nice photo, but you did reasonably well to bring out the beauty of this place despite the challenges. I like the colorful boat standing in stark contrast with the dull surroundings. Hope you have a good time in your native country among family and friends. Good shot with natural colours and light. Thanks for sharing.

Family will always far outweigh the weather. Even without, it has to be an improvement over the bitter cold and snow, right? :) Despite the cloudy skies and rain, this is still quite a colorful picture...I imagine it's exponentially more so on a clear day. Even though we only see a few people about, this looks like it would be a lively area. It certainly offers a nice view along the coastline and docks. If nothing else, at least the rainy weather doesn't seem to bother the seagull on top of the lamp post. lol Enjoy your time away. Take care.
