Photographer's Note

The name of this sleeping goose is "Rodi". She was living in the center of the food market of Kadıköy (at the Asian part of İstanbul) . The fishers and butchers and groceries feeded her with fishes meat and lettuces. And they believed that they would have good business that day !
Rodi escaped, when she was delivered with many other relatives to a poultry shop from its cage years ago.
She died a natural death a year ago.
Otherwise she would be consumed on a Christmas Table last night !!

Bu kaz’ın adı “Rodi”, Kadıköy çarşısının ünlü Rodi'si. Balıkçılar ve kasaplar, onu et, balık ve kıvırcık salatayla besliyorlardı. Ve esnaf , bu şirin yaratığı besleyince o gün işlerinin iyi gideceğine inanıyorlardı !
Rodi, bir tavuk kasabına getirildiği gün, kafesinden kaçmış, ve o gün bu gündür Kadıköy çarşısında hürriyetin keyfini çıkartıyordu ama artık o da yok. Bir sene kadar önce öldü !

Triste la sua storia, ma lei è anche stata fortunata a non finire sulla tavola della grande cena di Natale.

Hi Mesut, Such a beautiful photo, I like the feather adn this red contrasting so well. And it is so sad. i know I am hypocritic as I am by no means vegetarian. But I prefer not to think about it this way.
