The mystical city Istanbul hosted many civilizations since centuries, of which Byzantium and Ottoman Empires were both the most famous ones. The city today carries the characteristics of these two different cultures and surely Hagia Sophia is a perfect synthesis where one can observe both Ottoman and Byzantium effects under one great dome.
Sophia in Latin, Haghia Sofia in Greek and the Church of the Divine Wisdom in English, this extraordinary building is İstanbul's most famous monument.
Emperor Justinian had the Aya Sofya built as part of his effort to restore the greatness of the Roman Empire. It was completed in 537 and reigned as the greatest church in Christendom until the Conquest in 1453. Mehmet the Conqueror had it converted into a mosque and so it remained until 1935, when Atatürk proclaimed it a museum.
From last year, there are new rumblings about whether this edifice should be converted to a mosque and it seems the noise is getting louder.

Hello Angshu - You have really considered your composition here and I like the fact that the fountain is off-centre and allows a good clean view of the mosque. The water jets are dynamic and the light on them very well managed. Good contrasts and colour this is super.

This is a fine composition, the inward jets all leading to the off-centre, vertical cascade. They make a delightful prelude to the mystical beauty of the mosque.
Have a great day,

Beautiful and full of dynamism presentation of this well-know building. Including the fountain in the foreground was a smart and cool idea to create a brand new sight. Like it! Very well executed shot.

Hello Mr. B,
It's been a long time since we were simultaneously doing something with TE. To me this is a familiar sight. A happenstance that echoes the fact that I was at the same spot in September 2012 and April 2014, but not in 2013. The blue of the fountain, the parabolic arcs of the streaming fountain are eye catching. Regarding your note, unhappily the clerics, are on a course to dismantle Ataturk's reforms, and make the edifice into a Islamic mosque again.

Two wonderful elements on one picture.
In foreground the fountain, the water perfect frozen, in background the Mosque with minarettes, make the picture completely
You play excellent with light and shadows.
You show us a wonderful picture with excellent colours and sharpness.
Very well composition, TFS.
Have a nice day,

A very beautiful blue of the water basin of the fountain.
With the many water jets and the greenery between the fountain and the Hagia Sophia this is a very 'relaxed' image of this much visited place. An oasis in the bustling town.
Best regards, Paul

The brilliant blue water and fountain are the strong pulling powers uplifting the shot tremendously, guiding to main focal of interests, the imposing historic edifice. Very interesting way how to compose this viewed from impactful low shooting angle. It stands out, sharp in focus with good contrast and some other extra detailed highlights to clinch the shot. As usual your exposure handling & pp is second to none. Another to notch, Congrats

A beautifully and artistically composed photo. I like the tight cropping and the dominant blue toes. Excellent freezing of the water jets in the fountain and the placement of the mosque on the hill balances the composition nicely.
Warmest wishes, thanks for sharing

beautiful composition. Including the fountain makes a nice foreground. I like also the way you have used the fountain. The water seems to be splashing straight into the entrance of the temple.
Great light, excellent colors, I like the blue tiles at the bottom of the fountain, they go well with the blue sky.

Complimenti. Una foto eccellente
Ciao e buona serata
