Hagia Sophia was built as a Greek Orthodox Basilica when construction began in 537 and served as a church until 1453. From 1453 until 1931 it was converted into a mosque. All references to the christian religion were removed or plastered over except one which was pointed out to us on our tour. In 1935 it began its life as a museum.

Taken from a good POV, works well on mono.
