The artwork (yellow one) behind the visitors is "Flatsun" by Rafael Lozano-Hemmer. It is an electronic model of sun, with a diameter of 140 cm, made of LED screen, sensor algorithms, aluminum, steel, glass. The place is Borusan Contemporary.
Three years ago, Rafael Lozano-Hemmer created a large-scale public art installationa spherical and dynamic simulation of the sun hovering over the city of Melbourne. The artist has brought a new iteration of this project; considerably smaller in scale, Flatsun at bitforms involves a more intimate experience for viewers. Flatsun has eleven different seasons which are emulating seasons of the sun, each with a different landscape, which responds to the movements of bystanders using algorithmic computer software.

very charmy the scenery with the dark silhouettes of the visitors to watch the 'flatsun' with the surrounded red colour to contrast perfect with the yellow one of the sun.I like the beautiful presentation but the most of all the created atmosphere.Well done my friend.

A very strange feeling with these silhouetted people, turned against the yellow circle anticipating something. The red room adds to the mystery. A very special capture indeed and an interesting note.

This sounds like a fascinating exhibit, and one I would really like to see. It also makes for a very beautiful image with the strong colors and very strong silhouettes.
The image that immediately came to my mind on seeing this was the movie Dawn of the Dead!
Thanks as always

eleven different seasons? i like the idea of that :)
i also like that each a different landscape, and that the audience is a participant.
even apart from your interesting note, i am enjoying the dr who-ish atmosphere of your shot :) they look as if they're about to board a spaceship for a little time-traveling. nice dramatic effect with the silhouettes against the intense red and yellow.

Ces silhouettes noires dans la pièce rouge donnent une atmosphère particulièrement intime et feutrée. le Soleil jaune éclaire la photo et crée un beau point d'intérêt.

Back to your signature images conveying your distinctive touch.
These guys look just like me when I am watching chicken wings grilling in the oven...
I enjoy and appreciate the way you are inspired to create imaginative photos in museums, art galleries and other artistic expositions, often playing with light and silhouettes. On this one, we surely feel the radiation, even the heat. Simple colour palette always works for me.

very interesting shot, I like the view of all these people waiting for something, but what for? Beautiful dark silhouettes against the red room. But is it art? I mean, artistic is your photo but for me not the object they look at. I saw the short video about it and it seems to me mainly mathematics, physics and electronic. Must have been fascinating to come closer to this sun and see how the image changes. Behind it is a big machinery. And you can even buy it for only 150 000-200 000 dollars. There are very interesting exhibitions in Borusan. Superb presentation of the most interesting places.
We have a lot of snow and still frosty days. Only a few days and I hope to see frozen Balticum. Maybe be I will see also ice breakers in work?
CLODO (34688) 2014-01-29 4:15
I thought they were waiting for chickens to be roasted!
Good warm atmosphere enhanced of course by the people black silhouettes
SnapRJW (31629) 2014-01-29 6:56
The warm glow of the sun belies the fact that it gives no heat Deniz; everyone is dressed for winter weather! The shot has a slightly sinister feel to it, the motionless people appear to be locked into a hypnotic state ... creepy. Nicely made image. Warm regards Rosemary

Excellent! There's nothing to find fault with, either in composition or technical, the colors are great!
krzychu30 (15512) 2014-01-29 15:00
this is exactly the kind of photography I like so much.
Simple in form, but very evocative and working on our imagination.
Love the color scheme of it-black silhouettes and red backdrop.
Royaldevon (39652) 2014-01-30 8:25
This does sound like an interesting art experience. To be honest, I would value seeing the sun as a piece of art at the moment, it would be a blessing from the rain!!
Your photograph does create quite a piece of 'modern art' in its own right. The colours, the silhouettes, the shadows, the enclosure of the space, are all strong contributors to the mood.
My warm regards,

The silhouetted figures are wonderful against the red and yellow glow. I like the way that the shadows diffuse into the FG. Dramatic and curious image - love it!
Kind Regards, Ann

This is a delightful photograph, very well taken in what must have been very difficult lighting conditions.
Althopugh we cannot clearly see the faces of the onlookers, we can tell from their body language that they are filled with anticipation and interest by the scene unfolding before them.
Wonderful vibrant colours and fine lighting, the people beautifully silhouetted against the deep light of the room, perfect exposure and exquisite details and sharpness despite a slow shutter speed.

Merhaba dear young Deniz
A fascinating art installation, your note makes a great point about the role of technology in modern art. I wonder what poor old Leonardo would have thought of Mr Lozano-Hemmer's creations :) Anyway, your photo really is compelling. It looks like something out of a Gothic horror book, and your title really makes me think that something is really going to happen. And that something is gonna be scary. I love the black silhouettes against the bright red and how the way you composed it makes it look like the people are huddling together out of fear. Nice work, really interesting and something that has got my brain working.
Warmest wishes and happy Sunday

Bu sabah işe gelip ilk iş maillerime bakmak yerine trekearth şifremi hatırlamaya çalışıp senin karelerine bakmak oldu, hepsi birbirinden guzel tek tıkla like etmeye alışan üşengeç biri olarak yorumlarımı hepsi için ayrı ayrı yazamayacağım ama "It's Monsoon Time"'a tek kelimeyle bayıldım poster falan yaptırabilir miyim bir ara konuşalım , iyi haftalar, bence sen hep gez dolaş ve bir blog aç en azından şu an 4000 kişiye yakın takipçime blogunu önereyim :)

I like the dark silhouettes of the people against the red/yellow background.
What a extraordinarily light against the ceiling and wall.
Your picture is very well taken with a high sharpness and clarity.
Excellent composition, lovely presentation.
Very well done, TFS.

Hi Deniz, You have great sense of choosing the perfect perspective for each of your image. You have magic to hold the best moment of the scenery till to the moment of posting it to the site. No word to describe this one just ``Impeccable``. Thank for sharing

Interesting... Really interesting exhibition Deniz. You got a superb frame from it. I like those silhouetted figures against the red and yellow. Great idea to present it like this. Done masterfully. Tfs.

well, i have very sensitive eyes, bright lights don't appeal to me at all so perhaps this artwork isn't for me. I've actually had eye surgery and require further eye surgery in the future.
but its ok in the photo.
you know the mood you've set here? its like the people are all standing around watching the Alien coming out of the Mother ship for the first time! haha
now THAT would be the best TE post ever!!! haha
cool looking shot with the lighting and colors.
I sent you a reply to your long critique of my previous photo.
batalay (39123) 2014-04-19 2:38
Your photo creates both a mystique and a mystery. I like very much the silhouette of the small crowd of people, seemingly standing in concentrated silence, set against a red field, interrupted with the brilliant sun-like circle.
I want to thank you for coming to "Istanbul Modern" for my lecture on Leonardo. Since the talk was in English, sprinkled with Turkish (rather than the other way around), those in the audience who spoke English must have derived much more information.

an image in the frenzy of colors, wonderful

I really like this work too!
You had a very good idea and did a smart photo job!
Special regards to the colors, exposure and composition!
TFS - congrats,
Enjoy your Sunday,

I'll have to check out Borusan Contemporary next time I visit Istanbul. What are their restrictions on photography?
Silhouettes of the viewers, effectively reducing this frame into shades of red, are the strong attraction of this photo. Well seen and rendered.
