One cold winter day, 5 years ago, i looked up to the sky, and saw. What winter had done to the giants in a park. A "number 4" up there? Or, maybe an upside down "6" for my 600th photo...
Gülhane Park was once part of the outer garden of Topkapı Palace and mainly consisted of a grove. A section of the outer garden was planned as a park by the municipality and opened to the public in 1912.

This just popped up, and I really like it. The number four is very visible in the thumbnail. I was in a park yesterday, looking at the same kind of trees. I have always liked the way they look without leaves; the patterns are so artistic. Very nice framing and upward view.

An excellent and original shot
Very wintry mood with these naked trees converging to the center
Bravo, all the best

Great composition. I love how the branches fill up the space in the image. The perfect sharpness allows for lots of detail and make the smallest branches look like blood vessels. The low-angle view emphasizes the majesty of the trees and the graphism of the branches makes for a nice artistic effect. Well done.

is gulhane means ``the flower`s home``?
we call it ``golkhane`` in Farsi if i guess right:)
always i like cold season more than warms.
they show us the reality of every things without any cover. it is not just about nature, it is about streets, our city, our life too.

Une photo comme je les aime et bien vu le N/B. Une amie à moi, peint des tableaux de ce genre, mais en couleur. Elle expose présentement à Paris. Excellente composition et merveilleuse disposition des arbres.

Hello Deniz - Congratulations on your 600th upload. I enjoy your shots very much, they have an individual character which shows your personal and unique way of seeing things and I like the challenge your shots often throw at us! The stark winter mood and your B&W conversion and square crop remove the branches from the usual associations and present a delicate and moody filigree. Warm regards Rosemary

un bel effet dentelle tout en finesse et en élégance. Bon choix du format et du N&B.
CLODO (29050) 2013-12-13 0:39
Very original way for your 6th anniversary on this site, the figure 4 is well readable.
Perfect framing with 2 trees trunks in the corners of the picture, and only light grey hues for the sky and black for the trees branches.

merhaba dear Deniz
heyyyy 600 photos! What a great achievement! And since you've been here for 9 years (since you were 10) ;) you've made such an incredible and indelible mark here on TE. What a way to celebrate too with this elegant, artistic, subtle and beautiful photo. It's something I'd love to be able to take and have in my gallery. it looks like an ink drawing and the perspective is fantastic. A magnificent photo to celebrate this important milestone.
Thanks for sharing, have a great Friday

This is so simple, so beautiful, so well captured!
It reminds me of Chinese silk fabric at its most beautiful! Now, that is artistic!
Have a lovely w/e,
Congratulations on this, your 600th post!

You should get in touch with the TV station Channel 4 and sell them this image, seriously they have to buy this! As soon as I seen this, the 4 was apparent and I can safely say that I have never seen trees so successfully create a number!
Todays sesame street is brought to you by the nunmber 4 and an oak forest :)
Brilliant winter shot, the desolate branches of the trees send a nice festive shiver down my back.
All the best

Very good idea of shot, nicely graphic and well treated in B&W, perfect to evidence the shapes and lines.

Or maybe nor 9?
Perfect framing and highly attractive. Could very well hang on my wall!
subhendu_bagchi (25260) 2013-12-13 8:01
a beautiful composition here. Simple and graphical... The lines of the branches of the trees are giving a great impact with the bright sky as backdrop. Excellent work. Tfs.
emka (73471) 2013-12-13 15:20
My congratulations for your 600 photos! Not so many for 9 years but that is quality that counts. Amazing photo, how you spotted this 4? It is better seen in thumbnail. I like this picture very much, what a delicate drawing. A bit like fractal structure. I wonder what trees it could be. Gulhane ... I was there every day but behind the wall :). I do not pracise my Turkish although i receive a new word every day, and slowly I forget what i have learned :(.
Waylim (25086) 2013-12-13 15:38
Very cool photo I love the unique POV looking up to the pale white sky in this gray and cold winter's day. I love the strong contrast of the tree branches reaching toward the sky. Funny, I see a large #4 between the opening of these trees.
danos (83177) 2013-12-13 23:17
Good morning Deniz,
well chosen the POV with the leafless trees to converge in the middle of the frame creating this beautiful texture.I like the way that the branches outline aganst the moody sky as the excellent presentation.
Have a good weekend,Danos

I am no fan of black and white but these picture be superb.
The black branches against a white sky cares for nice contrast picture.
Excellent composition, nice presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,

Lovely, Zen-like feel to this graphic image. Excellent use of monochrome, though I imagine the original had very little colour to start with. Good work.
jcpix (11478) 2013-12-15 8:52
Wow...even before reading your note, I spotted the #4 instantly from the thumbnail shot, it really stands out in the smaller size. What an ingenious photo, and big compliments on realizing the outcome. Because it's not as apparent in the larger format, I think it's a true testament to your smart observation and creative mind to see this as such.
Contrary to my last image, this one is perfectly suited for black & white, the silhouetted tree branches against the white sky gives this a virtual cut-out effect. It even has an energetic vibe about it, everything reaching upwards as if in motion.
I think this would also make for an interesting Rorschach test. :) Beauty shot!
KristinsCamera (2373) 2013-12-17 17:29
oh clever you, seeing the numbers in the beautiful lace pattern of these silhouetted tree branches. ovely b&w effect, lovely pov, as if they are bending down over you to protect you, or to tell you their stories. these trees have a lot of personality ~ really a lovely capture, deniz :)

Tree branches and the stiff neck shooting angle! This an art of photography you certainly are a bright spark, what a superb bit of artistry and imagination just perfect for the miserable weather. Arrangement in the first place is brilliant and I do like the 'symmetry' and your attention to detail shines through. Indeed amazing shot and great subject matter providing wonderful abstract quality forms well seen and just shows that you can find interesting photo if you look around with tuned-in eyes. Fantastically and creatively thought out, Congrats.
annjackman (17881) 2013-12-22 10:22
I like your artistic interpretation of these trees. They form an interesting pattern and look great in b/w.
Very well seen and taken.
Kind Regards, Ann

although rather late, I'd like to congratulate you on your marvelous 600+4 photos on TE! I wish you'll keep up this inspiring enthusiasm for much longer!
This is a wonderful picture, an observation of natural details turned into an artistic composition. The monochrome is lovely, it's enhanced the magnificent subtlety of the intricate natural patterns. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, take care,

Merhaba Deniz bey,
