The Golden Horn :Turkish, Haliç or Altın Boynuz)

is a historic inlet of the Bosphorus dividing the city of Istanbul and forming the superb natural harbor that has sheltered Greek, Roman, Byzantine, Ottoman and other ships for thousands of years. It is a scimitar-shaped estuary that joins the Bosphorus just at the point where that strait enters the Sea of Marmara, thus forming a peninsula the tip of which is "Old Istanbul" (ancient Byzantion and Constantinople). Its Greek and English names mean the same, but the significance of the designation "golden" is obscure. It has witnessed many tumultuous historical incidents and its dramatic vistas have been the subject of countless works of art.

Selam sevgili Burak "komşum" ! Nam-ı diğer "Burak Dayı" !
Eyüp sırtları her zaman bir hazine, görebilen gözlere.
Sakin, dingin renkleri olan bir kompozisyon. Bir de benim anılarımı tazeledi.
Şimdilerde "mezbahalıktan", "kültür merkezine" terfi eden eski yapının hemen arkasındaki, şimdiki Beşiktaş Askerlik Şubesinin olduğu yerde (o zamanlar Levazım okuluydu) 1967-1969 arasında yedek subaylığımı yaptım.
Hemen arkasındaki beyaz modern binada da (şimdilerde Arçelik Genel Müdürlük binası) Divan'ın pasta ve çukulata fabrikası vardı; 1986-2001 arası oranın genel müdürüydüm !
Bak bir kare beni nerelere aldı götürdü.

Hello Burak,
dark clouds over Istanbul, but this dramaitc sky give the picture a special atmosphere. The POV and depth is vers good. TFS

Bonjour, mon ami Burak,
Très intéressante note d'accompagnement. Le fleuve prend une couleur boueuse et le ciel bas est ombrageux, chargé de pluie.
Une belle vue panoramique.
