Photographer's Note

Hagia Sophia no longer needs to be introduced, former Christian basilica of Constantinople, dating back from sixth century, it became a mosque in the fifteenth. Since 1934, it is no longer a place of worship but a museum.
It is truly a historic place that has a very special atmosphere and the visit leaves a lasting memory.
Not easy to take this photo because of all these conspicuous street lights that show a little too much for my taste but I couldn't visit Istanbul and not show you this!

Wonderfull nocturnal capture of this majestic building of my hometown. Great pov and perfect light management. I like here the star effects on lights and the reflections on the pool.

This is perhaps the one of the best night shot of this mosques, I understand your concern of the tree lighting, it is very strong and take away some attention, but I think it actually works to your advantage, it is brighter, but it really grab our attention, but it is a cool light, once we open this photo, our attention goes to the warmer golden orange tone of the background. So in a sense it give great contast to each other and that is beautiful to look at. And the bonus here is the beautiful mirrow reflection. Really good work. Congratulations.

I've always thought that night adds a special magic touch to photographing famous places, ans your photo is a good example. love the warm lights of the walls, love the starlights that make the scene look as if from fairy tale. superb quality too, you definitely know your night-time photography :)

Encore une très belle photo nocturne! Une lumière parfaitement controlée avec un temps pose assez long dis donc!
F22 c'était pour faire une étoile sur les lampadaires?
J'apprecie aussi beaucoup le reflet qui équilibre bien la composition et de très jolies couleurs, bravo à toi c'est une belle réussite

Cette photo est une réussite. La basilique est une merveille et ta photo la met bien en valeur. Les lumières que tu trouves envahissantes font de belles étoiles dans la nuit. Les reflets ajoutent encore du mystère à la magie de la nuit.

Salut Philippe,
Une belle image nocturne d'un lieu qu'il me tarde de visiter.
Les éclairages ne sont pas trop gênants, excepté peut-être le blanc à droite
J'aime ces différences de teintes entre le froid du vert et le chaud des teintes dorées
Pas trop froid Istambul en février?

A fine night shot of the iconic monument. Exposure is fine & the sharpness is pinsharp. Two nitpicks though...I feel you should have captured the complete reflection & I am a bit bothered by the rainbow streaks & flare on the left. But Like the star effect on the street light, which give that extra effect. Well done!

magnifique!C'est tellement beau que je ne sais pas quoi dire!Le contraste noir-doré est bien evidemment splendide,le cadrage est excellent,mais toute la magie de l'orient est donnée par les multiples lumières étoilées et leur reflet!Splendide!
