Statue of Love and Peace
Istanbul Trip, Day 7, Scene 12
The terrace between Cemil Topuzlu Open-Air Theatre toward the Bosphorus (east) and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality City Theatres Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage (in the background) sports this sculpture. It is called Statue of Love and Peace, sculpted by Prof. Hakkı Karayiğitoğlu and erected by his son Gülhan Karayiğitoğlu. It depicts a woman standing on the globe with a laurel wreath and a dove in one hand. She is facing east signifying hope for the new day and is made out of white cement signifying purity. The workshop photo shows the same sculpture from a different angle.

The sharpness is not perfect, but this is very eye-catching composition, excellent illumination. What is this brick on the foreground? I have got only one idea, it could be a stage for somebody, for a photo session.

You're capturing well this place by a good angle and excellent tone, so it's interesting and impressive to see the tall statue of Love and Peace with a good design and Open-Air Theatre in back. It is pulled out well by night illumination.

Love and Peace - who would like this idea. Interesting sculpture and nice presentation against the black sky and nicely lit red building.

The photograph comes to life with the dramatic pose of the statue, so elegantly positioned on the world and standing proud, so that she unites the sky and the ground in one moment.
The coloured lights give a perfect b/g against which to pose this statue.
Have a great day,

This must a highly regarded sculpture due to its strategic location facing the waterfront and backed by the grand Theatre and with careful placement carries enough interest to make it an effective shot. The low vp emphasises the beauty and detail of the statue to good effect and sharp in focus while the dark sky and red tone also contribute to making this photo striking without distracting from main focal. Credit to the exposure control, it does look so even throughout. An intriguing capture, Congrats.

An impressive sculpture and a well chosen POV. The top of the artwork is nicely above the red diagonal line. A fine picture.

Great note to accompany the visual, I like how you've explained the meaning of each aspect...it helps better understand and appreciate the work. Amazing what a different point of view can do for compositional features and results...there's a distinct contrast between the two pictures. The red lighting in the background really gives this front end perspective quite a punch, but both are equally interesting. Enjoy the rest of the evening. Take it easy.

excellent view showing the beautiful sculpture and the colorful façade and its lights. I liked the visual effect of the compo. it is a pity the grainy texture.

This is a very striking image, the strong vertical lines, the deep appealing red on black colors, and of course the star of the show being the statue, all combine to make this a very appealing image. Its message makes it even more interesting, and I like how it rises from light into darkness, conquering both with ease. Very interesting and creative view, thanks for sharing.
