Unemployed fisher spending their whole day on Galata Bridge on "Goldan Horn" connecting Karaköy (Galata) to Eminönü, Sirkeci and beyond. Hoping to fill their cans with plenty of fish, mostly grey mullet or mackarel, sometimes they return home with both hands empty, and with lots of excuses... When passing by one should wish them good luck by saying "rasgele", in fishermen jargon.

Ingilizceniz o kadar güzel ki, yorumu Ingilizce yaziyorum (benim için daha kolay). This is a wonderful piece of photojournalism. The silhouette of the numberless fishing tackles, all representing the unemployed, is very powerful, and artistically a first rate photograph. I can hear them "rasgelle," and can only hope that there is plenty of fish entering and leaving Haliç.
