Photographer's Note

Galata Bridge acts like a magnet as it draws both locals and tourists to congregate in large numbers. While the folk on the ground floor (or is it the basement?) are eating their fish, the ones on the first floor are trying to catch their fish.

I hadn't had a meal there as local people warned me that fish was expensive and the atmosphere too touristy. So instead we frequented the quiet eateries within the walls of the Sultanahmet area near Cankurtaran.
Still, the hustle and bustle on and around the bridge is infectious and when I hear the Azan, the atmosphere for me becomes special, especially when one mosque follows its neighbour across Istanbul in intervals of a few seconds and I am surrounded by a stereo effect.

İstanbul seni seviyorum.
