Where there is water, sea or fresh, it is inevitable that one will see Turkish boys, youths and men fishing. More often than not it seems to me more to do with camaraderie than serious expectations about bringing a catch home for the table.
I saw similar scenes around the Black Sea and inland rivers.

une très belle scène de vie, où chacun s'adonne à sa pation;
La lumière crée de belles couleurs sur la mosquée.

I thought people in Lefkada do not move without their rods but this scene convinces me that the Istanbul's inhabitants really are addicted to this activity. Well spotted and very nicely presented with high quality and natural colors, good sharpness and interesting framing which includes also amazing architecture of this place.
Thanks for sharing

it seems that when ever the opportunity arises men all over the world will try their hand at fishing...
Here I do enjoy the minarets and temple so nicely lit in the evening sun, very atmospheric.
It`s a calming and peaceful scene,lovely.

I like the idea of the camaraderie in fishing; it's a great way to pass on skills and to forge co-operation.
Your shot is nicely angled to provide a good lead towards the light on the minarets and temple.
By contrast, the fishing rods follow an opposing diagonal!
Have a lovely day,

Hello Klaudio, my neighbour today,
Classical shot, the view of the fishermen on the Galata bridge or Eminonu. You had here marvelous light in the early evening. Impressive view of the New Mosque as well. Nice memories for me too, I loved this place most in Istanbul.
Have a wonderful week

Beautiful colours and light combined with a daily life scene. We also have those angles everywhere in Poland and I'm also convinced they are there just for the fun of it and catching fish is just a welcome by product. :)

A great capture of every day life on Galata Bridge.
I was amazed at the amount of fish that was caught by all the anglers on the bridge.

You captured a very nice evening light along with these two well known views from Istanbul, the Galata Bridge and the "New" Mosque. I don't remember seeing so many anglers 40 years ago as I have done during my most recent visits, but maybe it's just that my memory is fading. Scenes like this still always hit a nostalgic nerve deep inside me.

Beautiful photo. The landscape itself is a classic but the inclusion of the people adds a element of daily life as well as a classic Istanbul landmark. The POV put us right on the bridge and be part of the activities. I can almost smell the bait from the fishermen. The warm sunset light adds to the mood of the whole landscape.

Well shot & the extended dof gives a real sense of the sheer number of people & the busy anglers backed by the famous icon. An interesting place to go, and your shot shows just how busy the bustling Galata is at golden hour. Great capture and good angle, Congrats
