The name of the staircase is Kamondo Staircase , 19th century, it is in baroque and art nouveau styles. Kamondos ( also spelled Camondo ) were among the infuential Jewish families of that time. More details can be found on the net with few clicks.
It is in Galata district,intersecting Bankalar Caddesi. Cross to New town on Galata Bridge, Go past the first square, it is the street on the left. The steep street going uphil leads to Ashkenazi Sinagogue as well as Galata Tower.
