Today is the last day of the Pope Benedict XVI on his throne !
Whatever the reasons of his resignement may be, such an event does not happen often.
In our troubled world even a pope can have serious problems and most probably he had. The history will tell us the reasons; maybe not yet but in a few centuries.
I made this capture during his visit to İstanbul on 30 November 2006, greetring the crowds from the balcony of the Greek Orthodx Patriarchate in Fener (at the Golden Horn) hand in hand with the Patriarch Bartholomeos .

Bugün, Papa 16.Benedikt'in papalık tahtındaki son günü !
Papalıktan istifa etmesinin nedenleri ne olursa olsun, bu olay papalık tarihinde sıkça rastlanan birşey değil ve de kolay kolay unutulmayacak.
Günümüzün çalkantılı dünyasında bir papanın bile başını ağrıtacak problemler olabiliyor, demekki olmuşta. Bunları birkaç yüz yıl sonra tarih yazacaktır.
Bu kareyi, papa'nın ilk yurt dışı gezilerinden birinde, 30 Kasım 2006 da, Fener Patrikhanesinin bahçesinde çekmiştim.
Patrikhaneyi ziyaretinde, Patrik Bartholomeos'la el ele tutuşmuşlar, bahçede toplanan kalabalıkları selamlıyorlar.
