Tis is the third capture from the same place as my entry a few days ago.
The Drama im Syria still goes on. And ufortunately there are no signs of a quick solution.
As allways in similar cases, women and kids are on the top if the lists, who suffers at a maximum level.
İstanbul is full with emigrants from Syria who are spread around the city with the children and begging.
This omne here ; poor but seemingly happy ! Kids are kids.

Excellent portrait of a happy kid in unhappy circumstances. He/she is well dressed up. I wonder how cold it gets in Istanbul in Winter. I assume there's not enough shelter for all the refugees? A photograph which is disturbing (and rightly so) only because of its origin and back-story.

The Turks have big hearts to allow so many Syrian refugees. mGood sharpness and tight framing. Excellent color saturation and at least she is safe from the insanity in Syria. Good exposure with a soft diffused light excellent shadow details and only a little oe in the highlights. Have a nice week!

Une photo très touchante.
Triste et gaie en même temps.
Par ce petit bout de bonhomme, tout est montré.

Indeed women and children are always the most great victims in all wars.
I have say, never have people learned out of previous wars.
Your picture shows happy and very happiness children, with a smile.
Excellent composition, sharpness an clarity make these picture attractive.
Very well done, TFS.

An enlightening post, and one with such conflicting emotions. As you say, kids will be kids, and this child seems so perfectly happy and innocent in her world. We though, as adults know the reality of what is happening, so even a scene as delightful as this will be tinged with sadness as we know the uncertainty this girl faces in her future. A thought provoking image Mesut, and an invaluable document to the world.
Thanks for sharing

A very cute child in many strong colours. Your picture has of course another, more serious side, as you describe in your note!

This would be a heart-warming photo which would make me smile, if I didn't know the circumstances. Now it just makes me sad. It's a good photo anyway and small children look cute at almost every moment. But does this girl get anough to eat? Does she have a protected place to sleep at night?

I hope that better times will come for this graceful little lady, great photo, touching moment

Hello dear Mesut,
so sad to see the portrait of a cute little child under the title Syrian Drama. How friendly and trusting she is, offering a generous smile in spite of her hardship. At least she has her parents, it seems, so she feels protected and happy. I hope people and fate will be much kinder to the adorable little girl and to the other innocent people who are suffering from violence and injustice. Thank you!
All the best, have a good night,

Merhaba dear Mesut
The sweetness of this photo contrasts with the sadness of your note. The tragedy in Syria is deeply upsetting and I wish I could see an end to it. This little person is so beautiful, and yet she looks so bereft and a little neglected. I pray that she survives the ordeal and goes on to lead a long, healthy and fulfilling life. Tragically, the odds are not in her favour.
Thank you for this thought provoking image, one that will remain with me

Merhaba, my friend Mesut,
your shot shows us the terrible Syrian drama, by means of this scene caught in the streets of Istanbul. This poor kid seems to be happy in spite of his hard life conditions as a refugee, you have caught skilfully his nice attitude, in a very vital and spontaneous photo.
A superb work.

Ciao e buona giornata

Mesut, congratulations for bringing this matter to everybody's attention, your picture is a sad testimony and unfortunately the politicians are not affected by it as much as we are..
my compliments on your work

Ideal photojournalist image of this child who even though suffering through military power destruction, has a smile and her colorful varied clothing is also attractive.
As long as there is life there should be hope, and we all pray for the end of wars and hatred and the greed of the powerful.
annjackman (20371) 2013-11-23 23:03
The situation is terrible and it is so sad that so many children are suffering. This photo captures the spirit of this little one who is dressed up to keep warm. A portrait with meaning - very well done.
Kind Regards, Ann

A terrible note, but she seems happy, not being aware of the world life!

Heartbreking this little child. In is innocense i hope she don't realize the drama she's living.
