This is the fifth one of a new series, which I call "Handy matters" !
It may happen that your are faced with an interesting theme or object, but you do not have a camera with you !
Nowadays it's no more a great problem. Get your handy and capture it.
This new series will consist of entries, captured with a handy.
This one is been made an Apple iPhone 4 but you'll see also some entries captured with much simpler and cheaper handies. Therefore no technical data.
This fifth entry shows the beach of Caddebostan at the Asian side of İstanbul.

I like the composition of this photo very much and its lovely warm colors. The light of afternoon sun adds very much to the final result. Maybe the whole picture has been over sharpened slightly to much, but maybe it is just the quality of the handy.
Very nice picture anyway!
Have a nice day

Bonjour, cher Mesut,
Le penseur de Rodin des Temps modernes. La réussite est au rendez-vous avec un smartphone.
Idée intéressante qui demande à être développée quant au sujet.

Lovely composition. Colors are great. The red hood makes a perfect subject with the given background. well done.

The quality of the camera on the iPhone is really amazing, this is as good quality as my Canon! And it’s a wonderful beach scene too, the sight of that man sitting staring out to sea forlornly makes a great scene to capture, and you composed it very well with the sweeping curve of the bay, and the strong texture in the large foreground. Another moment when it was nice to have the handy, handy!
All the best

Good evening Mesut,
I had in mind that "handy-matters" is all about some craftsmanship applied on a photo - now realized it is the opportunity you talk about...
Anyway, nice moment on the beach, the man in red is an eyes catching element, but looking around a rough beach area with rocks and one naked tree, a crescent bay filled with seagulls, all culminate to a wonderful scene. Cheers.

By now I am in no doubt that your little telephone camera is just as good as many ordinary cameras, at least the cheaper ones. If you had claimed this was taken with a very expensive Nikon or Canon I couldn't really have told the difference. As for the composition the red man is a striking feature, and the view of the Bosphorus (which really looks like the see from this point) is very nice. I could have fancied cropping the lower half, which doesn't add so much, changing this into a horizontal composition leaving the red man in the foreground.

Hello dear Mesut,
I like very much this composition that leaves a lot of space to the empty but textured and bright foreground and makes the scene in the background look very intriguing. The long curve, the red jumper, the mysterious figures (one walking away from the other), the combination of a maybe melancholic story with so bright and warm colours, all these are elements you saw fast and were ready to capture. Your photo is great, congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,
