Another "oldie" from seventies. Much of those old wooden houses on the shore of the Asian side of Bosphorus , very close to the end of Bosphorus (towards Black Sea) do not exist any more.
Most of them are been replaced by ugly beton buildings.
This couple (to the left of the picture) were sitting on the shore and watching vessels up and down of Bosphorus, when I made this capture.

magnificent old,scanned photo!
The scene you captured here has so lovely, relaxing and leisure mood.
The couple sitting on the Bosphorus shore and enjoying the weather and atmosphere make the shot unique, but I like also this beautiful architecture as a backdrop for the scene.
Have a nice day

Bonjour, cher Mesut,

I just couldn't help the song, 'Messing about on the river', coming into my mind as I was looking at your shot.
I can almost hear the water lapping against the wall and the boats creaking with the movement.
A great documentary shot, even down to the clothing and the pointed shoes!
I just wonder if you have enlarged it a tad too much. I reduced its size in PS and found it to be a much crisper shot.
My warm regards,

L'endroit a dû beaucoup changer depuis 35 ans! Beau témoignage en noir et blanc.

Lovely scene very rich with details. Steep hilly background makes buildings rise above each other providing sea view for everybody. That would be a very nice place today. And I can well imagine how it was squeezed out because Istanbul has grown so much after those days.

wow, a beautiful composition in monochrome. I think it is a scanned image and the process is done with precission. Great to see those grains inside it which made the mood here very well. Excellent one. Tfs.

Good evening Mesut,
An intriguing series of old photo posted, while I find this one a beautifully taken from the chosen POV.
People sit on the water-edge jetty enjoy the view of the crowded boats along. The lady on pic. seem to be day-dreaming, a fantastic element on picture.
Inspite the time past, and "teeth-of-time" on the photos, I really enjoy looking at.

I am glad you captured this before the wreckers ball moved in. Good nostalgic look at the late 70's waterfront along the Bosphorus with excellent sharpness and nice graphism and tonal range. Have a nice weekend!

The buildings may have disappeared but I am sure the way of life is still the same. Fishing still seems to be a major hobby for a lot of Turks. But what a terrible shame that such beautiful houses were not restored instead of being replaced by ugly boxes.

Merhaba dear Mesut
Indeed one feels nostalgic when one sees such pictures. The old wooden houses are reminiscenet of the old architecture in parts of Istanbul we saw. This looks beautiful in B&W and adds to the nostalgic mood.

This is a super shot Mesut. It shows the close connection between the people who lived on the water's edge and their daily occupation, I assume many of them were fishermen or drove water taxis. What a shame these lovely old homes are no more! Progress????
Warm regards Rosemary

Hello dear Mesut,
I like the mood of this picture very much, the idleness of the couple watching the passing vessels in the sunshine, tucked very nicely in a busy and interesting setting. We get the charming character of this place in an easy and natural way, the light is reflected in a vast range of grey tones. A delicious fragment of a very pleasant experience. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely evening,
