ENGLISH: 25th April 2009 was Anzac Day. This day commemorates the landing of Australian troops on Gallipoli. Heavy casualties were sustained by both the Allied Forces (Australian, New Zealand and British) aswell as by the Turkish soldiers. It wasa horrible waste of young life for everyone concerned. A memorial plaque was erected by the Turkish Government to remember all of these young men. On it is written some beautiful words of the famous General Ataturk in 1934. May it never happen again.

The quality of this photo is extremely poor as it was taken on a disposable compact camera. But I have been promising Cak for some time that I would post a Turkish photo, so I dedicate this photo to him and to his countrymen and women on TE.

I have included in the Workshop a photo of the grave of one of our young heroes John Simpson. This man - and his donkey - saved countless lives by dragging them to safety once they had been wounded. He was killed after being in action for only 4 weeks.

ITALIANO: 25 Aprile 2009 è stato Anzac Day. Questo giorno commemora lo sbarco di truppe australiane a Gallipoli. Pesanti perdite di vite umane sono state sostenute da entrambe le forze alleate (australiana, Nuova Zelanda e Regno Unito), nonché dai soldati Turchi. Era un spreco di vita giovane 'orribile per tutti gli interessati. Una targa è stata eretta dal governo Turco per ricordare tutti i giovani di questi uomini. Su di essa è scritto alcune belle parole del famoso generale Ataturk nel 1934. Che esso non si ripeta.

La qualità di questa foto è estremamente poveri come essa è stata adottata su una macchina fotografica usa e getta compatto. Ma mi è stato promettente CAK per un po 'di tempo che desidero inviare un turco fotografia, così dedico questa foto a lui e ai suoi concittadini e donne sul TE.

TURKISH: Nisan 2009 25. Anzak Günü oldu. Bu gün Gelibolu üzerinde Avustralya askerlerinin açılış commemorates. Olarak tek bir kompakt kamera üzerinde çekilen bu fotoğrafın kalitesi çok kötü. Ama biraz zaman ben bir Türk fotoğraf göndermek için de, bu yüzden onu bu fotoğraf ayırmış ve countrymen ve kadın TE on CAK umut verici olmuştur.
