Mount Ararat, the highest peak in Turkey (5,137 m high) is seen from very far (also from Iran and from Armenia as it is on the border), a spectacular sight ; during the 3 days spent there, the clouds were gathering near the top during the early evening (but it never rained, complained the shepherds) and then cleared up as soon as it was dark (and very cold, due to the altitude).

This is a moody (and a bit noisy I'm afraid) photo ; tomorrow (if I don't change my mind), I'll post a "postcard-like scenery" with less atmosphere and more visibility. (In the end, I decided to post that one in a WS : for those interested in a clearer view of this mountain, with ‘fat-tailed sheep’ ) in the FG)

(Photos of people that I took in the same area here).

Hello Catherine,
I'm glad you're back in eastern Turkey. Even I can tell that this picture is a bit noisy, but I really do think it adds to the atmosphere. Great composition with the dark clouds coming in from the side and the evening light falling on the mountain. Very good foreground with the woman, the rough wall and the haystacks.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Cath,
Yes, definitely a moody photo, the noise adds to the mood. Wonderfully taken. Eagerly waiting for the "postcard-like scenery" ;)
Best regards,
Shaeri

Catherine: an eerily grainy image - but somehow fitting for this image's setting. Interesting details. best, c

Hi Catherine, I like very much this moody photo. Splendid atmosphere with dramatic clouds and tent, it looks mysterious, like in biblical time. The top of the Ararat looks fantastic. Ęxcellent composition.

bonsoir,

More like painting rather than anything else...

And very, very beautiful painting - that is...

That woman in there ...??
It is no longer a landscape...
It's an environment...
Live, pulsating environment...

...................

Thank you Cath, for the warning...
OK... I won't be here tomorrow when you post that "postcard-like scenery" with less atmosphere and more visibility.
(I got your suggestion right) :-)))

Yesssss !!!
That's what we need more on this site...

More visibility, blue skies and a white clouds...
And three color frame around...
Ah... Don't forget to apply Neat Image to your postcard, and make sure that there is not a single particle of noise in your photo... :-))))

Oh, what the heck... I'm gonna love it anyway...:-)

Always a pleasure...
Always an excitement...

Stay healthy, Katarzyna

Ararat. Scenery as if soon after the deluge has ceased to be a plague of human race. How easily one can understand the inspiration of all these biblical stories, means and symbols.
Great scenery with "architecture" which I can easily imagine in Noah's time as well... Light over the mount and the girl to the right makes me to forget about anachronistic meaning of poles with the strange ropes ;)))
Thanks for sharing - the TE formula I think never can be used more appropriate.
Greetings T.

Bonjour Catherine,
