3 photos today from the Rock of Van, each quite different, I prefer this one, some people may disagree.
This is the restored Hüsrev Pasha Külliyesi (meaning the Külliye of "lord" Hüsrev, Hüsrev is a name though I have never met or heard of anyone who has that name, and I don't know what "külliye" means, it must be some type of religious building) dating from the year 1567. Behind it is the Rock of Van and its fortifications. One of the WS photos will show this monument seen from the top. The other WS photo is a cloudburst of the area to the right of this photo. They do not overlap, so no stitch possible.

Such vibrant colours, and I really enjoy the variety of textures, as well as the composition
mlopes (494) 2005-08-16 19:27
Hi Tan, impressive and dramatic sky, everything looks clear and sharp!
cam (9043) 2005-08-16 19:46
Rock upon rock, the building is well detached from the rock in the background.
The sky is dramatic and the greens vibrant.
A beautiful place.
betogrein (2232) 2005-08-16 20:10
Wonderful landscape. Great composition, POV and colors.
Valentia (1522) 2005-08-16 20:44
Weird. It looks so fasle. Like a cardboard cutout.
Dos this world really exist?
singuanti (15250) 2005-08-16 22:46
Hi Tan. I think this is the best of the shots you uploaded. It's not everyday you see a shot with such 3d dimensions. The shooting angle between you, the minaret and the sky is superb. Well done Tan!
Cormac (26565) 2005-08-16 23:22
Great shot Tan! This is really remarkable for the clarity, the vividness of colour, and the composition. The sky is really amazing as well, and as you said in the title, it makes it look like the minaret is smoking. This photo really grabs my attention because of the incredible colour. Well done!
ndb1958 (9289) 2005-08-17 0:06
what I like most are the bright and fresh colours.
Nice composition of the building in the green grass and touching the sky.
jarosz0 (517) 2005-08-17 1:10
The colours are amazing - such clear and vivid. Very well done
ChrisJ (116098) 2005-08-17 3:52
A superbly polarized blue sky, with excellent, saturated color. The cloud looks like it's emmanating from the mosque. Good work!
PixelTerror (0) 2005-08-17 4:07
A nice place again and beautiful views with excellent light and polarized colors, this one gives a close view of the building with many details but I thin personally I prefer the Altered Image #1 for its good framing and superb depth up to the mountain.
Have a nice day,
rbcy1974 (20758) 2005-08-17 4:11
They are all nice, I personally like altered image #1 best as it gives a great bird's eye view of the landscape. Is this were the very ancient Ugur castle is outside of van city?
gezgin37 (3766) 2005-08-17 4:28
Nefis bir üçleme. Gökyüzü ve renkler harika. 3 boyut hissi inanılmaz, cami ve minare kesilip konmuş gibi.

Serwus Tan !
What a proper title for this lovely image :)
Nice close- up view with wonderful colours and splendid clarity.
I found also "View from above" version very interesting, because of the great depth You got there.
All the best,

Faboulous colours around this minaret, Tan. Also a good sharpness.

banyanman (7789) 2005-08-17 7:26
You chose a good POV here, Tan, to create the impression that the minaret is smoking. Good contrasts in colours as usual too. Cheers . . . David
Kenny10pin (19301) 2005-08-17 10:49
very nice shot here, I like the buidling here, it is so isolated to the world, very good crisp shot ad the colours are just amazing, well done

sleon (9402) 2005-08-17 11:57
Three wonderful images, each worthy of a separate posting - is there no end to your photo source??! The clouds really do look like smoke from the minnaret. Nice vibrant colours too, though a touch overdone but clearly it keeps the punters happy!
ajcsousa (1804) 2005-08-17 14:27
Hi Tan, a shot in the right time :). Great sky, colours, details, everything. 5*
P.S. I watched your Intro, you are prolly one of the lucky guys in the world. I say this cause of the number of countries you already visited ... Just fantastic :)
AmiBe (6042) 2005-08-17 16:07
yes, me too, I prefer this one, the POV is good and we see many detail of this restored Hüsrev Pasha Külliyesi (ouch...).
The colors are a bit too saturated for me.
Anyway, a good shot.
jjbach (9324) 2005-08-17 16:49
Really a smoking Minaret :D) I love the point of view and te angle. The colours are wonderful and the contrast very nice. Very well done!
Jeppe (18654) 2005-08-17 16:52
Fantastic composition and image - I like the landscape, lovely bright colours and the idea of smoke from the minaret :-)

Tue (39460) 2005-08-17 18:53
Very strong colours and great clouds you had to accompany this fine building and the great rocks in the background. It's all in a wonderful picture, very well done!
danyy (0) 2005-08-18 4:25
est-il encore bien nécessaire de te dire que ton ciel est superbe et séduisant ?
Des blues tout aussi intenses que les verts des herbages.
Une photo très contrastée tant dans les lumières que dans les couleurs.
Bien à toi.
apache (1426) 2005-08-18 13:13
An excellent shot. Love the colours you have brought out in this picture. Your POV really makes the minaret look like it is smoking...!
Reall well done
Mapeix-Br (253) 2005-08-18 20:08
I liked the colours you had in the picture. The construction is also outstanding! Did you used any filter?

A wonderful picture , tan and an amazing light. I have missed your work for a time. I don't know why -maybe you download at a different time to me- However, you have been busy creating an amazing and wonderful collection of pictures. I will need to come back often to catch up one them .Regards Kevin
Roly (2024) 2005-08-22 10:55
The strongly enhanced colors make this image stand out, it almost looks like a drawing. Very interesting subject and note. A less central composition could have been ever more effective.
Amphitrite (1720) 2005-08-23 7:37
Impressing composition with a nice imagination:) Sharpness, vivid colors and miscellaneous textures are great. Amazing...

As in most of your pictures, there's something that seems slightly unreal in this contribution. I insist on the 'slightly' because the post-treatment and optimisations you make are most often not 'too much' and we have still pictures that are not too far from natural aspects. Composition and textures are beautiful here again. Thanks for sharing !
john_c (24666) 2005-08-27 17:55
An outstanding and colourful composition. The minaret does indeed appear to smoke with this great cloud effect. The contrasting colours here are greatly enhancing. I also like how the little subtle fence around the structure helps balance the scene in the left foreground. The rocky backdrop is perfect for added drama. An immensely satisfying shot. Well done.
Xalkida (11744) 2005-08-30 2:43
Very very impressive shot with great vivid colors, wonderful lighting and sharpness. The sky is superb and completes the composition! Excellent work dear Tan.

hi, i am coming to Van lake, two weeks later, thanks for posting more photo from there.
premels (2400) 2005-09-11 14:53
Hi Tan, I have been too busy to follow on TE posts lately. I'm afraid it made me miss some of yours. I'm sorry I won't have time to get back on them. This one is really impressive the deep blue of the sky, the placement of the clouds are just great. I also like the 'view from above'. It's depth is better than on this one and it is more informative showing more of the human occupation of the land.
mumek (20202) 2005-10-10 14:08
Good afternoon Tan!
Super view at the minaret.Beautiful sky with fantastic clouds contrasting nicely with the rocks and the minaret.Excellent shot. Thanks for the note

Nefis bir manzara yakalamışsınız. Camiin yanında yemyeşil zemin ve arkada mavi gökyüzü ile bulutlar...Elinize sağlık

Merhaba Tan! Thankyou for this beautiful view of old Van city and the rock. Colours are fantastic and your point of view is good. It is a shame that everthing around the külliye was ruined in an earthquake. Thanks and best regards, Chris.
postvikram (1199) 2006-01-03 3:24
This is vikram- new member. Nicely done.Varying shades of the sky is superb. The rocks add to the contrasting colors of the grass. Congratulations.
