An old stone farmhouse at Kucuk Kozluka in eastern Turkey. I liked how the horizon line and roof met and continued across the frame. This is high altitude country around 2000 metres above sea level with brutal, 7 month long winters and short summers. It's also former Armenian territory before the horrific genocide of the early 20th century in which over 1,000,000 Armenians were massacred. The border between Armenia and Turkey is still closed today. My tour taxi from Kars town to Ani detoured a few km off the main highway to reach this picturesque village at the foot of the range.

Ciao e buona serata

You have discovered a really beautiful place for taking this image. Indeed, the line of the horizon looks superb and created a fantastic scene. The vibrant tones, very well managed, added something very charming to the post. Great one!

Hello Chris ,
This old stoned farmhouse has still a lott of charm , despite of its poor condition . I like a lot the landscape of ondulating green hills . Splendid contrast with the polarized blue sky .

The distance between the houses and the horion is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the houses. The good luminosity is enhancing the beauty of the colors. Have a nice day.

beautiful but such an unfriendly place when we read your note. incredible that such a massacres still happen and sometimes are not known for most people. Nice old stone house.
I have just returned from Turkey, but i haven't travelled much, visiting mainly Istanbul.

Bonjour, cher Chris,

A fine capture of this old stone farmhouse, which has a charm all of its own. I like the point of view with the building coming in from the right and pointing toward the landscape beyond. The image is well lit and has good colours and sharpness. Thanks for sharing.

It is a beautiful photo, yet I find the associated note unfair. This is the second time you have referred to the Armenian massacre without any reference to the similar fate of the rest of the population in that region. There will not be a true reconciliation in that region without both sides owning up to their responsibilities and one-sided innuendoes will only fan the lingering flames.
The boundary between the emerald green of the mountain top and the deep blue of the sky is sadly symbolic of the separation in that part of the world. The abandoned building tells the tragic story of innocent lives lost, dreams shattered, civilizations forgotten, all for political greed.

a wonderful presentation of this picturesque but desolate place and the lovely natural scenery in which it stands. I like very much the way you draw us to follow the long stone building and to feel its textures and decay. You managed the bright light in an admirable way, the textures are so natural and the colours so substantial and lovely all over the frame. Light and contrasting colours make the photo so lively but it still keeps an air of mystery. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,
