Photographer's Note

Well worth the climb up countless steps although if you have a car or taxi it's possible to get most of the way up to a carpark, with a restaurant that has stunning views over the city. At bottom right is a Georgian style church converted to a mosque (Kumbet Camii, built between 932 & 937). Also known as the Cathedral of the 12 apostles. I've used a stone fence as a makeshift tripod. The very top of the castle with the Turkish flag is closed to the public.
