Between the far eastern Turkish towns of Kars and Ani (the ruined former Armenian captial now abandoned), there are several detours off the main road to outlying churches such as this one in the tiny village of Kucuk Kozluca. Take in June 2013. The Armenian church was built in the 10th century.

These ruins still look impressive... and also your photo.
The composition is good, but the exposure and that sky also look great.

Incroyable ces ruines qui restent encore debout après le génocide arménien. L'architecture est encore très intéressante. J'aime le point de vue et le cadrage ainsi que la gestion de la lumière forte.

You have composed the image very well. The chapel, still impressive though in ruin, is well placed and nicely counterbalanced by the foreground remains. The person gives a good sense of scale. I like the light and natural tones. Fine sharpness with excellent rendering of the textural detail.

Yes, this is the architectural style of churches that you can see in Armenia.
Nice capture with the green hills without trees, also typcial for certain parts of Armenia.
Beautiful natural colours.
Best regards, Paul

your composition with the strong foreground details and the beautiful hill slope and sky as the backdrop is very attractive. The presence of the man is perfect. Thanks forsharing and have a nice evening.

it is amazing that although not much has been left of this church one can still imagine the style of it. I like this kind of architecture very much and it is a shame it hasn't been preserved better.
Very nice colors, fresh and bright and well handled light. Well chosen POV and good framing which includes so much of the green hill in the background.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your Sunday

Good evening Chris,
The light conditions were in favor, and managed fine DOF and sharp details.
The church stone-edifice built on the slope is in great contrast to the green.
Immaculate photojob, pleasent to look at.

A clearly Armenian style here, Chris, but unlike what PaulVDV has been posting of late, this beautiful small church has seen better days. Nice shot of these ruins, with the bright sweeping hill beyond. Thanks!

Those ruins attest the superiority of ancient architectures, not only they survive time but also of the elements. So much history in those ruins, I would love to know them. Nice to have the person for scale. Good pov and sharp details. Well don, tfs.

The presence of the person has an effect of scale. The point of view is showing the details and the colours of the ruins of the church. The good luminosity is making the colours to stand out. Have a nice day.

Beau point de vue de les ruines de cette ancienne église arménienne. J'aime bien le contraste des couleurs de la pierre et de la verdure. Bien fait.

Belle mise en image des ruines de cette église qui semble vouloir résister à la disparition totale.

such a shame that this little architectural gem of a church has not been better looked after. But its glorious ruin does make for a fascinating and beautiful image.
Have a good week - B.

The large stones and the impression of the tower, with its arched decoration, rising from the grass, still gives a sense of awe.
The scene is well composed, the buildings strongly placed against the angled slope, whilst the figure gives a good sense of scale.
Have a great week,

Interesting ruins but desolated view
Churches must not be destroyed in wars
The character gives us an evaluation about the scale
Angshu (56760) 2014-04-02 2:12
You are showing us areas not ventured in TE. The design of the church is distinctly Armenian-Georgian, with the elements claiming the remains. The green slopes create a lovely BG and the lone tourist makes a good scale. Fine work!

Another building with the same color and stones of the last one, may be are the material proceding of this exotic Khas
Exotic and very old remains of churches just in the middle of green fields
Like the presence of the man , human touch, and the add of part of the sky
Well done, tfs

your composition is great and features a strong juxtaposition as the desolate ruins lie in a splendid, lively setting. There's inviting depth and superb sharpness, very useful for the description of this particular setting since the building is not lit from this side. Apart from the light and colours, the diagonals also invigorate the view in the frame. I like very much the contribution of the blue triangle at the top. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a great evening,

First, the colors are lovely in this photo - sky blue versus emerald green. Second, I love the balance composition - the massive hillside on the right balanced by the ruins of the stone church on the left. Excellent photo, congrats!
