Photographer’s Note
A fırst photo from my last travel ın East Turkey, before postıng more ın a few days when I'll be back ın Brussels : I travelled from one small vıllage to the other between lake Van and the east Black Sea and ın thıs partıcular small place, I was allowed to sleep ınsıde the mosque ; had my breakfasts prepared by the wıfe of the ımam but my dınners were taken ınsıde dıfferent houses. GREAT HOSPITALITY EVERYWHERE AND VERY WARM PEOPLE !!!
At the end of the afternoon, I was drıven back by the owner of thıs house and could not escape the ınvıtatıon for yet another tea ; a crowded house, the wıfe of the sort of "agha" the only female (apart from me) allowed ınsıde thıs partıcular room and lookıng at me wıth smılıng curıosıty...
Thıs ıs an extended famıly wıth brothers lıvıng sıde by sıde and quantıtıes of chıldren (dıffıcult to understand the varıous relatıons) ; a rıch famıly ownıng varıous trucks but lıvıng very sımply as you'll see wıth other photos to come from the same place - other meals were taken wıth much poorer famılıes.
(Photo taken in Somkaya village)
See you ın a whıle and best regards from Turkey,
Cath.

After holidays?
Smart photo. Difficult light but you've done it well. I like such sceneries. Children behind the door are marvelous.

Hello Catherine,
Great picture, especially considering the difficult light-conditions. To my mind the main feature, the most typical thing, is the two women sitting outside the main room, eager to listen to the conversation and to watch you but unable according to traditions to fully take part. A very interesting glimpse of daily life in this part of the world.
Best regards,
Gert

sevgiler,

You and our people of great hospitality and warmth: a marvellous combination :)
The situation, how they investigate you with curiosity, is worth seeing. And you turned the scene into a baroque painting with this lovely light. Reveranza madam ;)

Hi Catherine,
It makes me happy to see daily human scenes from your camera :)
You know, you are a strange lady; you are coming from very far away, entering these people's lives, you live with them...
And you say; "GREAT HOSPITALITY EVERYWHERE AND VERY WARM PEOPLE !!!", what about you dear Cath, are you someone else? Great hospitality and very warm person; this is also you :))
Hugs,

An excellent depiction of a traditional way of life, Cath. The people are smiling, and they are friendly in a shy kind of way, but their faces are shadowed--we cannot really see into their souls or understand their way of life, not without spending a lot more time with them. Yet everything has a warm glow of harmony. Very nicely done. Regards, Ken.

Branko
