my favourite little shop (outside) Photo

Photographer’s Note

The dolmus to the little village where I was staying near Dogubeyazit was starting close to that little shop ; each day, I told myself that I loved the funny display of colourful plastic articles outside, and strangely it reminded me of similar shops in the Caribbeans.

This is just an exercice : I did countless versions of it, and none of them satisfies me entirely, I still have to learn so much ! Here I like the colours, although some of you will find them exaggerated, but that is also my intention (for this one) ; others will find other flaws here ; any suggestion is welcome !

Hello Catherine,
It's a jungle of plastics and other stuff. Very colorful and extraordinary. So much junk, even on the roof. I can't tell if the colors are overly boosted, looks OK to me. Having a person that would enhance the composition could be one way to make it better, or moving closer to some details. But these are more like alternatives to an already nice and interesting capture. Regards,

Vraiment très bien bien vu ce "bric à brac",la composition est excellente .Extraordinaire ce mélange d'objets dans leurs casiers ,tout déborde jusque sur le toît ,les couleurs claquent juste ce qu'il faut.J'aime beaucoup

Ca, c'est un magasin comme je les aime!!! De tout et de rien dans un bordel pas possible. Et j'imagine que tu peux demander ce que tu veux au commercant, et il te le trouvera en oins de temps qu'il ne faut pour le dire.
J'aime bien les couleurs vives mais l'exposition est un peu forte à mon gôut.

Hi Catherine,
I would leave the composition as it is ... you've captured this well. It boils down to what you want to portray to the viewers and in this case your main subject is the shop, unusual but certainly very interesting. The photo has very good image and color quality ... the details are also great. I say this is an excellent work! Not everything in this world is nice and pretty ... I myself prefer something unusual and interesting. Tfs and have a nice weekend.

Tu fais bien de nous montrer ce magasin, un bazar, quoi, que nous aimons tous et partout, parce que ce genre d'endroit permet toujours de trouver plein de choses innatendues...Même si j'ai l'habidute de ce genre de commerce en France (pas tout-à-fait, mais il y a des équivalents), j'y rentre assez souvent, non seulement pour acheter mais pour voir.
Les couleurs doivent être comme ça, à mon avis !!!

Love it! What a fantastic delicious façade shop display. I'm sure it would be my favorite shop, as well. Superb composition with excellent saturated colors (not exaggerated at all). And look at that roof! Delicious image. I even forgot the absence of people here... ;-)

I can't see how it could be improved and still show what you want to show. I certainly don't think the colours are over saturated; they look completely natural to me. It is a wonderful image of the shop, even empty boxes on the roof. Whilst it looks like a hotchpotch of items for sale I bet there is some order and structure that the owner knows about. Good work.

Une petite boutique, pas très bien ordonnée :) mais pleine de charme et bien colorée. Ça déborde de partout, on ne sait pas où donner de la tête. Tout en étant pas une experte, je trouve que les couleurs sont bien rendues et que la netteté est bonne.

Je me dois de revenir sur celle ci,car c est le genre de magasin qui mérite une photo! Ça déborde de désordre et on comprend bien l'origine du mot bazar! Je ne trouve pas les couleurs trop saturées comme tu le craignais, au contraire... Bonne lumière, netteté et cadrage!

Well, my first thought is - favorite shop???

I am positively sure that if I asked any girl around me what their favorite shop is, their answer would be either Tiffany's, Macy's, Target, Nordstrom's or something like them that you would find in a mall here in the states. It is actually quite refreshing to see someone who sees the little things (or shops) in life as something to be cherished.

Now, that said, this shop looks like a big explosion of color. A great catch here. Color is excellent but I do see what you mean about not being atisfied with it. It's a great subject that deserves a great photo. I'll try a WS later (not on a CPU with that capability right now) but I think if you crop the left out, getting rid of the blackstrip on the side of the store, as well as some of the right, maybe to the green colander on the ground, it may "focus" the photo more. I'm not sure. I think that would really make it more of a wall like shot though...not being able to see where the shop begins and ends. Still, it's really not bad like this, Some things aren't mean't to be messed with...

- I added two workshops Cath. The one with the white frame may look better with a different frame. They're really nothing except maybe idea starters for you. Let me know what you think. The white framed one is actually really bad looking (sorry), but I think a tighter crop may help a little - just a different one than that.

Hi Cath. Trekking much inside your gallery I stopped at your 'favourite shop(outside)'. Well display of colours and well documented as usual. Frustration and perfection always go together as I guessed from your note that 'none of them (versions)satisfied you entirely'.
