Photographer’s Note

This is part of a huge valley near Uçhisar, a town in Cappadocia in Central Turkey. This area is an out-of-this world place with all kinds of rock formations, called fairy-chimneys by the locals, and churches with beautiful frescoes and dwellings carved inside these formations by early Christians in order to escape persecution during the Roman period.
Note: The automobile at the upper left of the image will give you an idea about the size of these formations.
