Photographer’s Note

The title is misleading, this 34-days baby boy was in fact only surprised and not yet used to his boisterous grandma who is living not far away (yes, she is the same, the now famous Venus from Cappadocia) : one minute before, he was sleeping quietly with his little wrists closed, then we arrived and she immediately called his name with a sweet high pitched and very loud voice, took him and cuddled and kissed him in all possible ways...

He was not smiling but he was brave, he did not cry but seemed happy to see his mother come in (here, smiling and safe). All along, I had urged the grandmother to be quiet and more soft, but she is used to babies, this is her 9th grandchild and she loves him, holding him here like a trophy.

And you haven't seen her singing yet...

de très beaux gris ,tout en finesse.
une contre plongée qui est un dommage,comme le cadrage,trop centré,ce n'est que mon humble avis.
Reste une photo pleine de gaité.

Le bebe a su poser. C'est tres mignon, mais ca m'a fait rire. J'aime bien et je suppose que tu t'es amuse toi aussi sur place. Encore une fois dans une famille gentille. Je signe ma reaction de deux sourires, chere Catherine,

A 'baby' photograph really worth seeing! The expression of the child, caught up in the hurricane of his grandmother's love, is wonderful, as is her look of pride.

Pauvre BB quelque peu affolé par l'élan de sa mammy...; en tout cas tu as bien saisi les deux expressions, ton noir et blanc est très doux; chouette photo; merci et bonne soirée

Bonjour Catherine,

Je ne connais pas toute l'histoire de Venus, mais je trouve les deux photos absolument captivantes.

Celle où elle adopte la pose de la célèbre toile est hilarant et touchant à la fois. Quel esprit! Il doit exister entre vous deux une belle complicité. Vous me parliez de votre Ixus dans un autre fil de discussion et à vrai dire, je n'y connais rien dans la quincaillerie. Mais peu importe ce que vous en disiez, le résultat est impressionnant et la qualité de piqué également.

La bouille de ce petit gamin est impayable. Et regarder moi les mains de grand-maman!... Des palettes qui ont travaillées plus fort que moi avec ma souris d'une main et une bouteille de Pepsi de l'autre... :-P)

J'espère que vous allez bien...

L'expression de ce bébé est vraiment excellente!
Le pauvre, quel réveil!
Et pourtant, tant de douceur et de fierté dans le regard de sa grand-mère!
Je veux bien te croire qu'il est supris, pas vraiment apeuré, car il doit bien sentir ce merveilleux amour qu'elle lui porte.

a happy portrait of family life and this you call venus. She is ahppy and the baby will learn to be happy in her compnay no doubt. I suppose he just needs some time to get used her extrovert ways.
Technically very good and I like your black & white treatment.

what is striking with these shots, apart from those technical details which I don't mind at all but the spirit, is the genuinity of people and even of the moments.
would I exagarrate to say you are a 'decisive moment' master? :)

Every good photograph has to have 'something'... Anything.. Whatever...
It's either the entire production, or just a small element of it...
it has to have that 'kick'...
And those two faces in there - are such strong kicks...

Wow, he sure looks more than 34 days old, Cath. He looks almost like he has the head of a middle-aged man on a baby's body! But his grandma doesn't care--she is certainly proud! To her, he is the most beautiful baby in the world. I like how the triangles hanging from the shelf frame her head, and the arch of the ceiling frames the baby. Regards, Ken.

C'est encore moi... Quelque histoire fantastique que cette Vénus. De superbes photos pleines de tendresse. Et qu'est-ce qu'il est courageux ce bébé comique. Il n'a pas fini de s'étonner avec une grand-mère si énergique... La photo en WS m'a bien fait rire... Qu'est-ce qu'il est expressif! Encore merci pour ce moment d'évasion. J'adore ta série!

Ah, j'adore l'expression un peu perplexe du petit !
Une jolie scène, l'amour de la grand-mère et la fierté sont là, ainsi que le contexte de vie, dont deux peluches au-dessus du poste de la télé.
