Cappadocia, Central Anatolia, Turkey
It is difficult to describe the feeling of the Hot air balloon ride in Turkey.
Hauled out of the bed at 3 am in the morning to be picked up by a bus to reach the 'site' for balloon launch, observing with awe the giant balloons being fired with gas, clambering over the basket (not an easy task) to position oneself with camera & mind fertile with expectations....
And then it happens...the balloon lifts up and starts sailing. The landform in Cappadocia, surreal thanks to the interplay between the forces of nature looks even more breathtaking from above. Sailing over the fabled 'fairy chimneys', sometimes just grazing by them, floating above the cave hewn churches and monasteries, as the sky changes colour at the horizon slowly beckoning sunrise...
Its a spectacle which would stay in my mind for my life time...sure it ripped my pockets (220 Eur for 1.5 hour ride), but for that I would perhaps save again to go an encore...:-)

Bonjour, cher Anghsu,
Quoi de mieux que le ballon pour voyager et découvrir des lieux sauvages et enchanteurs.
La réussite est totale.
Un pur régal.

Namaste Angshuman. Nice POV- I presume the two were in the same basket as you. I actually don't mind their inclusion as they point the direction in which we should look and admire the view as they are doing.Excellent colours. Regards. Klaudio.

The hot air balloon is a big tourist attraction. The distance between the balloon and the ground is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the détails and the colors of the hot air balloon. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Rien de tel qu'un petit tour de ballon pour voir le paysage de manière complètement différente. Ici, c'est le ballon, vu d'un ballon avec en arrière plan un paysage superbe.

A very nice photo showing the real adventure with good details given by you. Some people scared of heights. I am one of them but you did it. Very good.

Ciao e buona settimana

This must have been an amazing experience for you floating in these butterfly balloons. I would be lost in the experience riding the balloons and worry about the hefty price once back on the ground :-) A fine photo of the balloon with the backdrop of the barren hills in the early morning soft light. Nicely framed as well with the tourists in the right. Good one, thanks for sharing.

paying 220 eur per 1,5 hours emptied your pockets and you should have felt as light as a butterfly after all, without the burden of carrying that money... i had done the same, and was disappointed to see how fast time flew. i wanted a 5 hours ride after paying that much... anyways, a life time experience for sure. you highlighted the balloon, i would go for highlighting more the whole scene, as it is a half tone darker than i'd expect to see, but then, it should have been the low light at that time of the day, and you might have wanted to transfer it as dim as it was.

i will be taking the same balloon ride in May, in about 1 month from now.
Exciting to see this pov, as it gives me something to look forward to :)
Love the light in the bg.
any tips or advice to share in booking or planning this balloon ride?

When I visited Cappadocia in 1970 I had to do it all firmly on the ground. If I had then suggested to anyone to introduce balloons I would have been regarded as a fool. What I really like with this photo is how you put your own basket and fellow travellers in the foreground, along with the nearest balloon, leaving the fabulous scenery in the background just for once. I really like this perspective, and I also love the somewhat subdued colours of early morning.

L'escapade en ballon est un peu coûteuse mais tu en as ramené de bien belles photos comme celle que tu nous offres aujourd'hui.

very nice and interesting the close up view of the hot air balloon,as is 'fly' with the lot of people in the basket.Really the feeling of this ride must be a great experience for someone to see and admire the beauties of Cappadocia but the cost of 220 Euros is very very expenssive for Turkey.

Oh this is great
Very nice scene
220 € for a ride it's very expensive in Turkey
In France the price is 190 € and more confortable with 10 persons into the basket
I add this picture to my theme

Wonderful, you being in the basket gives us that feeling we are rising up as well.
Wow, as you say worth the early start, a life time experience indeed.

It's a huge colourful eye grabbing full of vibrancy so well shot with the positioning of the balloon is so close as strong subject and contrasts superbly to the whole depth of the spectacle The background interest enhances the warm glow while the figs liven the show tremendously and credit to your competency in handling the exposure and the side lighting. It's a pleasure to view and the lovely gorgeous colours. Beauty a bucketful!! Congrats, tfs

You have captured a great sight, with excellent sharpness on the tufa rock formations. Your composition is very good, using the tourists head to lead the eye through the shot. The lovely colours of the balloon stand out magnificently against the sky and the landscape. The low morning light adds depth and dimension to the shot, as does your effective POV. I bet the sensation must have been fantastic. Surely an amazing place to be standing in and photographing. Very well done.

Hi Angshu, Your photo reminded me my trip to Cappadocia. We were discussing with my friend, should we go by balloon or not. First, the money, but it was a bit cheaper out of season, so we were ready to spend it. But most important, were we brave enough to go? Me with a fear of height? Finally I was decided to go. But the fate solved the problem for us, it was too windy and all flights were cancelled... So I am envious you managed it. Must be terrific experience. Excellent shot.
Interesting that you go to Uzbekistan. My friend is considering such a trip. But I would rather go to China (if there were someone crazy enough to go with me :)).
Looking forward to seeing your next photos

I had a pleasure to visit Cappadocia but regrettably I decided to save on the balloon trip. Next day already I started to regret and now your photo reminded me of that mistake ;)
Wonderful experience for sure. I would like so much to come back to this place and spend more time there. This is such an extraordinary location.
Nice capture here which has a feeling of action and adventure.
Very well done,
